During todays PSGL, Dani Bereznay started shouting(in hungarian): "This guy is not real! One of the best esports drivers in the world, has been cuttimg the track for five laps, and he is not even in his DRS. All the best drivers can just barely hang on to his(Longuet's) DRS. He is on zero percent battery, yet he managed to split up THIS grid." That is probably the most direct way of saying Ronhaar is a cheater, that i have heard from any f1 esports driver.

the PSGL Bahrain finale today, might be it for Ronhaar... Nicolas Longuet in the last 5-6 laps was cutting almost every corner, using battery and yet not able to even catch Ronhaar's DRS, whilst Ronhaar was not cutting any corners and actually charging his battery alongside... its not possible... Opmeer during his stream actually gave up watching the race in frustration and similarly Dani Bereznay vented out his frustration during the race.. two such high quality drivers can't be missing here...

Particularly when you see him lose grip, or make a minor error and he does not lose time in fact he still gains on the rest of the field, how can Jake B for example have a small error and lose at least a few hundreds but TH never loses time to the rest of the field, The gap between him and p2 is often bigger than from P2 TO P10, on a game where there are no where near as many variables than IRL it just should not be possible for the gap to be that big consistently. I do think he is a great driver he was always rapid when I was trying to match his laps on TT back in the XBOX days but he has improved massively since then because on XBOX with TT he had as many attempts as he wanted to clock the time but now in Q1,Q2,Q3 he only has a few runs and is miles ahead, back in the early e sport days he would be considered elite with those gaps but now with so many amazing drivers on the grid it has to be impossible. I hope he is legit as imagine how much higher the e sports level will be if he is genuine and drivers have to find a way to catch up but it seems too good to be true.

It appears that Longuet didn't really gain that much time with exceeding rack limits. And when Longuet runs wide on corner exits, he increases the distance. But that refers to extending track limits and not specifically corner cutting.

I think it's pretty likely that thomas ronhaar is cheating, but when they get to a lan event he will still perform. He probably is still a top 10/top 20 player in the world. Often people think that when someone cheats its because he is a bad player and needs cheated performance to equalize. But its often the exact opposite, where really good players cheat. Maybe some of you remember the cheating scandal of Trackmania (a racing game with mainly timetrials and not full races). There many where discovered to be cheating by running the game in slowmotion offline to be more precise and then uploading these runs. The big scandal was the Riolu was doing this alot, even tho he was arguably a top 5 player in the world, many wondered why he would feel the "need" to cheat, but it's just that at the absolute highest level of play, these slight boosts become even more needed. I could see this F1 esports to be a similar case where one of the best players in the world is using cheats to minimaly gain an advantage, and if you take his cheats away he will still be in the top 10, just not setting 0.25s faster laps than everyone else.

6:59 i did some testing myself and this is exactly what the effect of grip hacks are. the more grip you put on, the more understeer you get but also obviously the more pace you get. he could be putting on only 1.003 or so grip to make the car easier to drive at the limit while remaining subtle enough to not be that noticeable of a boost in pace

I think a good way of preventing or at least identifying if a driver is cheating would be to use some form of telemetry data software. This idea stems from watching Nicolas Longuet's stream where there is live telemetry data displayed on screen at all times. Perhaps f1 esports or Fanatec can create a piece of software which during the race can record the telemtry data for each driver. This data can then be sent to f1 esports marshal or whoever and compared to one another to determine any outliers. This would serve as a massive deterrent for cheaters at least in organised league racing.

Meaning that the data should be quite similar between all drivers. The telemetry would show who brakes for the longest period of time and who gets on throttle quicker. With the drivers being so similar in speed I picture the telemetry line also being similar between them therefore making obvious who is getting on throttle in an unnatural way and suggesting they are cheating.

You wont really detect wierd patterns, because the cheating would theoretically come from just having slightly higher min speed and top speed everywhere and not from using any cheating controls. And considering f1 22 has very dynamic grip levels (both track and tyres having their own life), so you couldnt just replay the inputted controls into a legal version.

@@nuun0010 I believe the biggest issue in the f1 esports relates to grip levels of the tires. For example the term Griphaar has been thrown around suggesting this is the easiest way to cheat while also being able to hide it well. I think that the minimum speeds that Thomas gets to relates to how the tire doesn't lose grip through the corner. Also he gets to a higher top speed due to getting a good exit but at the same time getting on the power far more aggressively compared to other drivers as seen in this video. Typically sacrificing the line to get a better, straighter exit means less minimum speed through the corner but more top speed along the straight but obviously this doesn't line up with what Thomas is able to achieve.

It's sad we have a situation in ACC too. Even thought in the past almost every league required replay and telemetry files for split 1, they became lazy. And even with MoTec telemetry, you have to trust Nils Naujoks findings. Nothing from Kunos, the developer. And on top of that, I became tired of ACC, and subscribed to iRacing for a year. If he's 2 tenths faster at every track ever - which he is - and suddenly he's not, that looks sus on it's own. The most telling things about him using grip hacks (which a quarter of a second gap at eSports level is 100% not 'talent'; especially when he isn't using a loadcell pedal which is just worse than using one for pure performance) is the size of the gaps in Q1 - where the track is low grip - and changeable conditions, when he's simply on another planet. But if you go watch Alex Gillon's cheat vids, like JD mentions, the way you get around the anti-cheat is so laughable it's a waste of time them even having it in the first place

Being honest, Noble didn't have exceptional raw pace on F1 2013. The level was just much lower and he was the only one on xbox who even got close to the limit of the game. Now there are houndreds of people who drive more or less perfect and are exploiting the limits of setups, track limits etc. So having a big gap like ronhaar is basically impossible now, because the air is much thinner compared to 10 years ago.

Personally a Lan event where they follow the real life circuit would be ideal for F1 Esports. I know that can't stop people using these cheats in other leagues or PSGL etc. But the obvious performance difference from lan to remote leagues would be a better deterant. Even if they held the most the events in a studio LAN enviorment or each team based at the team factories with a rep from Codemasters there to install a fresh version of the game. Then the final batch of races be held in a LAN studio at Yas Marina within the GP weekend. Would draw more eyes to the series/game and have more control against cheating etc.
