My experience as a non-permanent immigrant in the U.S.: I studied and worked for almost 10 years in the U.S. I was told by my employer to marry an American when I asked for a green card. I packed up and came to Canada. I got tired of these shenanigans. It's a double standard. If you want to immigrate legally, the U.S. is restrictive. At the same time, the door is wide open for illegal immigration. Just nuts.
@thl205Ай бұрын
It’s not “wide open”, as you see in the video, people have family members who have been here 20 years who don’t have papers and therefore never entitled to the benefits of American citizenship, despite paying taxes, and live under threat of deportation. You’re jealous of that?

A have a dear friend who immigrated from Spain with his family when he was 13. He went to school, learned English quickly, got a college degree and yet spent tens of thousands of dollars doing it the legal way to get a green card. The ICE bureau was so uncooperative, nasty untrained, underpaid workers and a lawyer who nickeled and dimed him and after 30 years, still no recourse until he married a US citizen. I have also worked with many Mexicans and they are honest, hard working and respectful people with family values and deep love. Many Republicans often say, "Come to the U.S. the legal way" or "Stand at the back of the line for your turn." But the truth is, the legal immigration system has been broken for years, and neither party has made genuine efforts to fix it. In fact, an undocumented immigrant can sometimes secure a green card more quickly than someone who has followed the legal path - like an international student who has studied here, paid tuition, and contributed to the economy through taxes. This flawed system can leave hardworking students without a clear path to residency, despite their significant contributions to our nation, while undocumented immigrants can gain residency by seeking asylum. What we need is a system that welcomes both skilled and unskilled immigrants to help them realize the American dream. There are countless jobs available across industries, particularly in construction and farming, which is in dire need of labor. By creating a more inclusive immigration framework, we can better address labor shortages while empowering individuals who want to contribute to our society. Unfortunately, our politicians often exploit the immigration debate to polarize their bases and secure re-election, all while avoiding real solutions to the crisis at hand.

Result: skyrocketed rates of violent crime and drug trafficking in Miami which took generations to tackle, and Miami still has over twice the rates of violent crime compared to the national average. Also arguably the main reason it's no longer as crime-ridden today is because Cuban drug traffickers were largely put out of business by South American gangs who now dominate the underground economy in the US.

Reforming immigration laws and securing us borders are not the same thing as demonstrated by the recent successful crackdown on the southern border that's had an almost immediate reduction on illegal border crossing. One can address the root cause of a problem without ignoring the immediate threat posed, requiring immediate action. Legal immigration is the way to do. Unfortunately the immigration policy and law of US is outdated and does not value merit. Basically if you have a skill that can benefit US, speak English, respect America and pledge your allegiance to America and can start a business or take a good tax paying job you are welcome!!! The problem with US immigration is family based immigration which is merit less. Immigration to US should only be based on education/employment and based on merit.

No we should not. Those people hate the part of themselves that is Mexican/latino. They truly believe they’re above the others of their kind and are racist against certain people of their own community. This happens in a lot of Latin communities not just Mexicans.

It was not for nothing that people once invented ethical and moral norms. They protect society, because non-observance of them leads to conflicts, wars and destruction of society. And the government is the most sensitive to the observance of ethics and morality, since the consequences of unethical actions can have serious consequences for society! The world needs an "ethical fuse" for power! I would like to cite as an example the ethical norms of ancient Egypt from the "Book of the Dead", which were placed in the coffin of a righteous person as a "pass to a better world". "I did not harm people. I have not sinned in relation to food. I didn't do anything bad. I did not commit blasphemy. I did not raise a hand against the weak. I did not do what was abominable before God. I was not the cause of the illness. I didn't kill. I did not order to kill. I have not caused anyone suffering. I did not add weight to the measure or reduce it. I didn't cheat. I didn't steal. I was not jealous. I did not commit adultery." Agree that Trump has very little chance of getting into a better world. Putin has only Hell!

Trump would not be able to deport thousands of migrants! The process would take many years and billions of dollars. Huge deportation centers would need to be constructed at an enormous cost. The courts would be overwhelmed with cases. The economy would collapse because undocumented migrants work at jobs that Americans refuse to do.

Sharp fall in migrant encounters at US-Mexico border in 2024 beflow what Trump had in Jan 2022. Pew Research Center Research Topics The Border Patrol recorded 58,038 encounters with migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in August, according to the US Border Patrol ~3 million lawful permanent residents (2,941,013 LPRs) naturalized and become eligible for voting in the USA during Trump in office. N.B.: New U.S. citizens are no different in their voting preferences compared to other U.S. citizens.

We have a blue President in office and for the past year he has been arming the genocide in Gaza committed by the IDF. Kamala Harris has also effectively stated that she will carry on arming the IDF and she has refused to rule out bombing Iranian nuclear facilities. In these aspects she is no different than Donald Trump so voting blue will not bring back a return to normalcy.

In June 2021, Harris traveled to Mexico to sign an agreement resulting in a commitment of $4 billion in direct U.S. assistance, along with more than $5.2 billion in private-public investments. However, she has not visited the southern border or neighboring countries since January 2022. Despite Mexico's requests for increased investment, her "Root Causes Strategy" has not introduced any new financial commitments. Harris was appointed by Biden as the administration's lead on border issues, dubbed the "border czar," the government faced mounting pressure from both sides to address the surge of migrants, especially unaccompanied children, crossing the border and ending up in inadequate U.S. detention facilities. On March 24, 2021, President Biden took the stage at the White House, effectively passing the responsibility for this issue to his vice president.
@bikebudha01Ай бұрын
fun fact, the Biden/Harris presidency DID put forth TWO bills. The first bill, was literally on day one. But it fell to the wayside because, you know, COVID was killing thousands of Americans every week. Then THIS YEAR there was a super potent immigration bill, mostly written by republicans in the Senate, but trump told his republican lap dogs to not put it up for a vote. OH, and why didn't trump fix the border when he was in office? He we president, they had BOTH the house and senate... Didn't get it done then, won't get it done now... - Also, there is no such thing as a "border czar"... It's a made up thing, because reporters are too lazy to report what Harris was actually doing.
