According to the American Polytechnics Association, over 400 million pounds of fireworks were used, and that's 3.86 injuries per 100,000 pounds: so, it doesn't seem like a lot. But I think you were to compare car accidents to fireworks injuries, you'd get an unequal comparison. As Americans spend much time driving and infrastructure playing a role. Also I believe that they include car accidents that happen without human error (failed brakes, etc). While fireworks injuries are almost always human error
