As Italian, I like to think that also having a TV Channel (Super Tennis) totally free and totally dedicated to tennis has made tennis much more popular over the last two decades among the youngsters in Italy. Italy is the only Country on Earth which has a TV Channel like this and that, around 20 years ago, has launched this project of making the Tennis Tournaments available to everybody for free: nobody talks about this unique situation but, to me, it has been a very important factor which has propelled the growth of the Italian Tennis. The influence of this kind of free media deserves to be studied more.

I was 7 or 8 at that time and we suddenly had the opportunity to train, paying very reasonable money, with professional FITP trainers and compete in national level tournaments, all of this in a remote and small town (not even 2.000 people) of one of the poorest regions of Italy. It was an excellent update on the Italian Tennis Federation. Quite different than associations in how they operate and how they function. The former, is in fact, a ministerial post of the government with strict enforcement of certification requirements for its coaches. It is also egalitarian in its support of players and coaches. It contributes to varying games styles. Nothing remotely comparable to that approach exists in countries overseen by associations. It is a classic example of socialism versus capitalism. Aviation and Tennis are two areas in plan sight for everyone to evaluate.

Thank you Courtside Tennis for focusing on Italian tennis with this well edited and researched video. Can you make a stronger effort to pronounce player's names right? You absolutely butchered 90% of the player's names! It's respectful if you're pronouncing a foreigners' name to do some research, and get it right. It shows you care about the athlete, the country, and the sport if you put some work into it. I know that Italian is not your first language, but some mistakes are so basic they could be easily corrected. For example you keep on pronouncing "Schiavone" as "Sssshavone" when it's pretty basic in Italian, the combination "CH" makes a "K" sound, so the name should be pronounced more like "Skiavone". You can easily see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaSnknmwa8qVna8 Also, you completely destroy Michelangelo Dell'Edera's name by putting the stress at the end of the name, when in Italian the stress (unless explicitly indicated by an accent) is always on the first or second syllable. It makes your content more appreciated and professional if you also focus on getting people's names right. You can do better!! Cheers!

There is an element in Italy that everyone ignores (for fear it is really real): the falling birth rate. In Italy there are very few children, the lowest percentage in the world. --------What does this have to do with tennis? Quickly explained: in the baby boom years, every small town could form one or even two football teams. Where the best athletes naturally converged as it was a popular sport. ========================================== Then with the decline in birth rates the towns and cities emptied of children, and a phenomenon was born: many football teams merged together because they did not have enough players to form a football team. ======== So many children/young people became ‘isolated’ and moved to sports where the number of participants in the team from 15 like football became 1. ==========================Tennis has thus become widespread, which in any case enjoys great popularity in Italy among adults and the elderly, and facilities for playing can be found everywhere. But the sociological factor must always be kept in mind when it comes to sport. NB: the best Italian tennis players come from the central and northern regions of Italy, where sports facilities are much more widespread. PS: the Italians have not quite understood this, but by the end of this century their population will be reduced by half. As a people they are doomed to extinction. The demographic decline that began 40 years ago has become a more serious biological factor than a pandemic like the Black Death. The accumulated delay is so serious that there is no possibility of remedying it.
