Love this, started learning to swim at 59 was just taking lessons about once weekly. Gradually twice a week. I took about two years to get the breathing as I practiced more days. I retired at 62 and had more time for lessons and practice.Finally felt comfortable at 63 to lap swim. Now I lap swim 3-4 x weekly. Good for you don’t give up.

Could you do a Adaptive swimming video with people with physical and intellectual disabilities. With tips for coaches and students. Although I know each person with a disability would need and Individual adaptive swimming plan. Maybe some tips for working with visual impaired, legally blind and blind swimmers. Also swimmer. On the autism Spectrum. Great video today

I hyperventilate after reaching the end of the lane. Part of it is because I'm tense, also have not developed a consistent breathing pattern. Had two choking incidents in the deep end of the pool doing freestyle and now I have a mental block, simply cannot get myself to do freestyle. All I do is backstroke and freestyle kicking with a kickboard.

Then you should definitely watch this video. Especially from the Hand-Lead part. Kathy was having the same problem and she learned how to stay relaxed and swim the entire lap. I think you're either holding your breath or you're breathing too frequently. Please watch the video without skipping any part and practice when you get a chance. I am SURE that you will learn this.

@@RocketSwimming I watched the whole video. You really know how to teach adult beginners. I noticed Kathy veers off to the right and left while doing those turns and it happens to me too. I start from one side of the lane and within seconds I end up touching the divider, can never stay in a straight line. Why do you think that happens? Is that a 25-meter pool?
@RocketSwimming9 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for watching the video and for the kind words! When you veer off to the sides, it’s usually because your body isn’t balanced in the water or your strokes aren’t even on both sides. For example, if one arm pulls harder than the other, or if your head isn’t aligned properly, it can push you off course. Try focusing on keeping your head steady, looking straight down at the bottom of the pool, and making sure both arms are doing the same work. You can also practice swimming with a pull buoy between your legs to help you stay balanced. Let me know how it goes!

Am a beginner I just started swimming today and I experience a choking incident I almost sank and one of my ear is blocked 😢 how can I catch you and get to know this better ❤
@RocketSwimming4 күн бұрын
First off, huge congrats on starting your swimming journey, that’s awesome! I’m sorry to hear about the choking and ear blockage, though. Don’t worry, that’s super common for beginners. Here’s a quick tip: try to relax and breathe out slowly through your nose when your face is in the water. For the ear, tilt your head to the side and gently hop on one foot - it usually helps clear it out. You’ve got this!
