he could have 3 peated if he wasn't injured in 2008, and this notion of "if a series goes to only five games or four it means it was easy" is ridiculous, sometimes every single game of the series is a grind decided in the last 3 to 2 minutes, like the 2017 finals, it was highly competitive

Bynum and Gasol is why it was easier for Kobe they were solid big men. They made those zones have to stick to their guys. When you have one big guy rolling and the other just sitting on the opposite block, it changes alot of things. If Bynum was a threat in 08. KG would have not been able to camp in the paint and do waht he did. Would of been lob city.

In an era where superstars team up with each other, Kobe doesn’t get enough credit. Kobe was driven to win WITHOUT a superstar. His goal was to win without a modern day wilt chamberlain and he did twice. That alone should puts him in the GOAT conversation.

Without all-star Pau Gasol Lakers and Kobe were barely a playoff team. I guess you forgot that. Also what superstars Did Dirk have? In 2005 Nash left Dallas they still won 58 games, 60 games , & 67 games with Dirk and some good players. How good were the LAkers again minus Shaq 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

While Celtics in both the 2008 and 2010 playoffs were better than the Magic defensively, Magic were still #1 ranked defense. Courtney Lee was undersized and no match but Pietrus was almost the exact same size as Kobe at 6'6 215lbs. Individually Kobe had a much better Finals in both 2009 and 2010. But there was a lot else going on in 2009 and 2010. 2008 Pau Gasol had only played 27 games for the Lakers in the regular season and 15 in the playoffs before getting to the Finals, that's usually not enough to really find your role on team. Gasol bulked up in the offseason and was much better at banging with Howard and KG/Perkins in the following Finals. Bynum was out in '08 which hindered our inside presence, and though he struggled with a bad knee in both finals having that extra size and allowing Odom to come off an otherwise weak bench is a huge difference. Ariza and Artest for their respective Finals were huge upgrades at SF from Radmanovic and Walton. Ariza did play some in the 2008 finals but very limited minutes due to an injured foot buried behind Vlad, Walton, Sasha, and Farmar on the bench basically having no effect. While 2008 Lakers were no slouch on defense both the 2009 and 2010 Lakers were playing much better defense in the playoffs.
@justone91815 жыл бұрын
I just commented something similar. You are absolutely correct sir. I can tell that you may have actually been watching this series and the Lakers as all this was actually unfolding. Not saying they would've won, but if the Lakers had the 09 roster in 08, that series goes 7. Hell they went 6 with what they had. For some reason people hardly ever deal in shypotheticals when it comes to Kobe but when it comes to other NBA greats there are always alot of "what ifs".
@nicolopez75915 жыл бұрын
Could you do a video on the lakers rebuild after trading shaq? What most people say was that the lakers were bad until they traded for gasol, but there were other moves leading up to the gasol trade, for example, getting odom in the shaq trade, signing radmanovic, trading for arias, drafting and developing Bynum, vujacic, turiaf, and farmar. The lakers were had a record of 28 wins and 15 losses before making the trade for gasol, and the gasol trade put them over the top

The reason Kobe became a champion without Shaq is because he had Pau Gasol, who was the best player on both those championship teams. Don't believe me? Check his and Kobe's win shares on those championship seasons. Gasol outpaced Kobe both years. 2009: Gasol 13.9 WS to Bryant 12.7. 2010: Gasol 11.0 WS to Bryant 9.4. Gasol also led Bryant in WS/48 both seasons.
