In the Bugatti VS Koenigsegg playground debates of the internet, Bugatti is always seen as the "bad guy", because it's a company born from Europe's biggest car manufacturer and its entire existence is seen as a show of pure excess of monetary wealth. But I think from time to time the people who made the Veyron and chiron should be commended for their effort as well, they used an entirely foreign engine design and built a machine so utterly excessively luxurious and powerful in its design and function that it's absurd.

Did McLaren ever hold the record? To reach 240.1 they had to raise the rev limiter beyond what was used for the production cars which were limited to 221 by gearing. Can't recall if 221 was good enough for the record. Also, the Chiron SS didn't get the record because it was one way and there were aero mods to the record attempting car that weren't used for the production car. Anyways, glad to see you back 337!
@jamiecloughgaming25387 Жыл бұрын
Actually they could do 231mph which comfortably made the McLaren F1 the fastest production car ever before their 240mph record.
@JanBanJoovi-ol1qv10 ай бұрын
Car & Driver measured 220 mph at 7,500 redline, but they have observed the car is still accelerating upon reaching 7,500 supposedly redline. 240 mph is when the rev limiter was increased from 7,500 rpm to 8,300 rpm. Even at 220 mph, being a naturally aspirated car, that’s a humungous feat. Even today with naturally aspirated cars having tons of horsepower, they still struggle to exceed 220 mph. Likewise, raising the redline from 7,500 rpm to 8,300 rpm is not a massive modification. If I’m not mistaken, there’s no increase in horsepower. They just corrected the gearing as indeed they haved noticed earlier that even though the redline was set to 7,500, the car is still accelerating upon reaching the 7,500 redline. 240 mph was measured in VW proving ground on a two-way average. No naturally aspirated production supercar today even close to reaching 240 mph. The likes of Bugattis and Koenigs need to use force induction to dethrone the F1 as fastest production car.

The beauty of the Mclaren was that it was'nt built to be the fastest yet became the fastest It was a road car turned into a race car, with so little modifications it managed to win the 1995 lemans To this day it still holds the record for the fastest naturally aspirated car
@Yomotomen Жыл бұрын
I don’t know man, that jesko definitely is faster, but then there’s the hennessey f5, and even bugatti took a page out of koeniseggs book and made that bolide, which is insane, and if it’s aero was removed, I’d reckon it could be even faster than the jesko/f5

280+ mph sounds absolutely terrifying, i can understand going for the coveted fastest production car title but these hyper cars have well passed any practical usage scenarios i can imagine, but i guess people dont spend that kind of money on a vehicle for practical purposes anyway.

Great video!!! Dont forget the Gemera with 2300hp HV8 option, and even that the Jesko is the fastest revving car in history. Also to be an official top speed world record, companies need to use an homologated car non tuned (like bugatti with the 300+) and do 2 ways top speed trips to get an average. Just give time to the Jesko Absolut to smash

To be fair, the Chiron that hit 300mph was modified a decent bit from what a stock customer car would have available to them. The Agera RS that hit 284mph was just a customer car on E85. Not some special, non-buyable one off owned by the factory.

yep which is why Guinness marked it as a unofficial run because that and the chrion did a one way pass not dual direction pass

Well you can go ahead and buy SS 300+ and there are 30 of them so thats not true😂 Plus it didnt used a cheat fuel, it used pump gas, just saying. And even without little bit of modifying, it was still faster than the Agera Rs so no point there.

There is so much talk about the competition between Bugatti and Koenigsegg, concerning speed records. BUT what is never mentioned is that Bugatti always uses the V16 engine to get the high horsepower numbers, to be able to set speed records. This does not impress me in the least, considering that Koenigsegg only uses the V8 engine to set speed records. This impresses me and many others how a small Swedish company succeeds in picking up more horses and setting speed records with an engine that has half the number of cylinders than the big billion dollar company that Bugatti is part of. It also says Bugatti's engineers are worse when it comes to building engines and even then building a whole car. When a Bugatti Chiron weighs over 600 kg more than the Koenigsegg RS.
