@XrexO-g3u Terrible low basketball IQ take. LJ is a better playmaker than Steph so he can get his points without all the extra fluff. The game slows down when you don’t have to always handle the ball and find your shot. The ball is in LJ’s hands because he’s been arguably the best playmaker to ever play (points scored + points from assists). This is why he was Team USA’s designated PG.

I don't think that the rules are that big of a deal tbh. The main difference between FIBA and NBA basketball is just the fact that FIBA is single elimination. It's hard to get hype when the regular season is an 82 game slog, and then the playoffs is best of 7 The stakes just aren't that high. Make playoff series single game knockouts like FIBA does and see how it will change everything. I mean, March Madness features some absolutely atrocious play sometimes and people still get so hyped about it. There's just something about a winner takes all game that hits different.

As an European is pretty obvious a FIBA environment makes for better basketball, especially the way nba basketball has changed during the last 10 years. Smaller court, no 3 second defensive rule makes zone more effective and increase physicality. Coaching become even more important. He was relegated to being a big on team USA (due to his deficiencies), and quite frankly, Bam and AD do big better than him (in FIBA play). @spenser6353 Taking a team on your back doesn't guarantee victory. I've seen that with LJ & Curry time and again. But they certainly inspire their team players to do their best when they bust their guts out to strive to win a game, any game

LeBron was special. Curry had 2 exceptional quarters and was below average in almost every other quarter and he'll be remembered for what he did NOT what he didn't. That is how great he is as a player and how he can change a game in 90 seconds like no one else ever. Bron was incredible on both sides of the floor guarding Jokic, Wemby, 7 switching like a menace on everyone. KD defensively even stepped it up a notch. Booker in my eyes showed how good of a player he was more so than everyone else .I did not know he had some of that other stuff in him like he showed.

@tompratt71253 ай бұрын
My take away is that the international game has essentially caught up. Serbia kicked the US super team's ass for 37 minutes and if not for an unconscious shooting performance by Curry the arguably most talented US team ever would have been playing for a bronze. France gave that same 'super team' everything they could handle.Once upon a time international teams had an advantage in preparation but now it's mostly an even playing field because every international team has a ton of pro players playing in high level professional leagues. Everybody has the same time to prepare now. Canada had 10 NBA players and didn't even medal.

The way I see it, the Fiba rules make a difference. Team USA has to adjust to their rules as opposed to the other teams. In terms of talent USA is just better but these other teams have been playing together for a long time and it matters

You all need to go back and watch tge Canada vs France game& stop posting garbage. They were ribbed. 42fts in a 40 min game? The most given in a FIBA game since 2004. Canada, Japan & Serbia in order was the most robbed teams of FIBA.

Pushed to greatness? Some of the plays by Team USA were quite sloppy, especially in passing. LeBron and Curry combined for 10 turnovers that allowed a good French team to stay in the gold medal game. The shooting by Curry in the 4th was no doubt god-like.

Agreed. The US had very poor rebounding and no game plan. Lucky to get past Serbia who collapsed and couldn’t make a shot in the end.

Love Legs analysis.. Only problem with this one today is who does Tatum play over? Dudes a ball stopper. Great player but 0-16 on jumpers during the Olympics.

The best way to describe how this group played is to say that they all went back to the basics and became who they were prior to being drafted! They all were the college version of themselves except for LeBron, and he was the high school version. They all played basketball like the learned at the “basic” level. College Curry, Booker, AD, Durant, Bam, Embiid was kind of the exception because he now has a jumper. Bron was high school dishin and dominating leader Bron. What an amazing olympics and I’m an old head!

Legs says Tatum deserved a better look but admits 6 games is limited time. Don't forget about practice. If he didn't perform there then why risk gold? Let him learn and improve his game and show the world next time around.

there was one play when Embid went down, and did a roll mid air , head first, under the basket that was impressive! LeBron definitely lead the team, consistently, at every aspect of the game, from shooting the 3 to blocking a shot, to making a perfect pass, to his signature drive to the left side of the basket.

My take is: Europeans are catching up in terms of physicality, conditioning and shooting prowess. Whilst USA needs to catch up in terms of tactics and execution (Legs, JJ R, and even Lebron with new discourse regarding strategies, but they are elementary level for EU)

Thanks to Noah Lyles for stating that NBA championship does to infer to World champions. Thanks to Lebron for getting triggered and recruiting top players to come play for Team U.S. Thanks for the rest of the world for gradually catching up and giving team U.S that push they desperately needed. ...and thanks to Steph mofokin Curry for finding his game at those last two games and sealing it for us. Kerr clearly saw some reason he didn’t want to play Tatum, no matter what his accolades are. I agree it’s shocking, but if Kerr thought Tatum would help, Kerr would have played him. Maybe it was something in practice he was seeing, or early play.

Love this discussion. Not to quibble but the comment about Book playing defense as "beneath him" sounds a bit hollow given MJ, Kobe and yes LeBron all being defensive maestros is important to remember. That's a big part of why they're legends - their willingness and ability to do whatever is necessary in any given game is absolutely key.
@tiredbasketballfan3 ай бұрын
I think what's beneath him is that his role is a 3&D role player, not that playing defense is beneath him
@ryanpatrickpreston3 ай бұрын
@@tiredbasketballfan Being a role player in the Olympics with a bunch of all-time legends is beneath him? KD came off the bench. These days one has to be a true team player willing to take on different roles in order to win Gold. Finally, I think the fact that Book was willing and able to do that may bode well for the future of the Phx Suns.
@tiredbasketballfan3 ай бұрын
@@ryanpatrickpreston I was really impressed with him, not everyone would agree to such a role and not everyone can excel in it with such short notice. And you're right, it's absolutely necessary for them to be successful. There is no room for 10 stars on one team, unless each accepts a different responsibility and does their best to fulfill it. I don't want the Suns to be good but I do like Book more now so I'm conflicted🤣

I have one more comment - thanks for indulging - I saw an article today on line which pronounced that Team USA Basketball is now in trouble with the aging Big 3, I thought - why not subvert the assumption that the NBA will send all its stars and instead go with the philosophy no doubt subscribed to by many other national teams. Recruit players and fill out the roster with players that will best (BETTER or BEST) the rosters of the other national teams. IMHO that's going to be the very best way forward and will help take pressure off stars players like Tatum while staying at least a step ahead of the USA Team's competition.
