I agree and the most prestigious event is 100m free but Dressel now is not the same Dressel 3 years ago. Him taking a break from swimming made him lose in the US olympic trials and unfortunately won't see him defend his 100m free against Popovici, Pan and Kyle.

Leon Marchand is not the fastest swimmer in the world. This has been happening since Michael Phelps era, Phelps is with no doubt the best swimmer ever but never was the fastest swimmer either. The fastest stroke in swimming is Crawl (or freestyle) since it's the stroke swimmers reach the highest speed with, having said so the fastest swimmer in the world must be a freestyler. The event the freestylers reach the highest speed is 50m freestyle so the fastest swimmer in the world is the one who owns the 50m freestyle world record and at this moment that guy is Cesar Cielo.
