Bring me back to 2002 and it’s scary. I feel every word coming out of Linda’s mouth. I love this anecdote and I love to hear the story behind Beautiful. It’s so nostalgic and precious but here we are 20+years later and I still have all my insecurities. At least with this song I can embrace them a little more each day. Grammy well deserved for this song.

I think that also Pink would have gave this song a great rendition. However I think Linda Perry and Christina's best collaboration is "Candyman". Even if is heavily influenced by one of the Andrew's Sisters songs that single really captured the "Back to basics" vibe. I also think it's her best video.

i think it wouldn’t have been as iconic as it is, pink has a beautiful voice and for sure wouldve sounded great but the reason this song was so significant is because of the gay/trans representation which was so scarce at the time. Pink wouldnt have done that bc she was getting hounded with lesbian jokes at the time and would just further instigate the bullying. but turns out she was fr straight all this time lol

I prefer the Elvis Costello version because the arrangement is just better. It is a more stripped-back version that leans into the more raw demos that Linda has done. Christina is just too glossy and polished. That production style just gets in the way of the song's original intention.
