In 2019, Marathon world-record holder Eliud Kipchoge famously ran a Marathon under 2 hours - an incredible demonstration of his message that "no human is limited". When I watched the footage of that race, I was so impressed with his speed and started to wonder how long an average runner like me could run at that (inofficial) world record pace of 2min50/km.
Check out my brand new website here: www.runforyourlife.ch and let me know what you think of it in the comments! I made this website so that preparing for races becomes even easier for you! You can directly download my very own marathon training plans from that website and implement them in your workout!
This video series is destined to all people who want to run a marathon, but don't really know how to prepare well for it or want to compare their way of training with mine! So whether you are a beginner or a pro, I hope that my videos will add value to your marathon training!

Thanks, if kenenisa Bekele did this challenge it would have taken 2hrs for me to watch. You've finished it in oddly 5 minutes.

eliud kipchoge did 4:34 per mile for 26 miles. my longest distance ever at that pace was around 200-300 meters. thats doing a lap in 1:09, and my fastest timed 400 was 1:18 (but it was 400m reps in training so i could probably do better) this man is crazy

I'm going to try this soon. I'm an average runner myself, so I doubt I'll even reach 400m lol I totally agree with you though - Eluid has achieved something truly amazing

Awesome! Keep us posted here on how your attempt goes - and you might be surprised, maybe you're more of the sprinter type in which case this challenge might be more for you than it was for me! Good luck in any case:)

I can keep it up for maybe 1200m, 42km is unfathomable.

Yeah its impossible to run 42km continuously for a beginner or even for intermediate runner. This can be achieved not in weeks or months but in years. I started running and its been a year now and i can run for 3 miles continuously but when i started it was a task to complete even 400m. So to run 42 km first you have to complete thousand of miles over the years. Good luck.

I also ran his speed of 2:50/km and so running the 400m took me just under 70s, whereas Olympic sprinters do that in 45s - insane!

kipchoge wont run that speed on track where there is a turn every 100 meters and that saps energy compared to a straight line running. but still the speed is ridiculous to say the least.

@@runforyourlife7229 he is 5 ft 6 and though extremely skinny still has low center of gravity. the africans have been dominating but others have started to give a look in like this last olympics. And it is full time job for him unlike others. he has sponsorship and makes money winning marathons. i still cant believe he has not won the boston one and few other majors. the folks are running throughout the year and for him running in cold europe or north america is a huge plus as he practices in hot africa. and those nike shoes are 2 inch thick! so which will help in his endeavours. most of the foundation is put when young compared to other runners. he has won medals in 5000 meters too. so he has great lift and speed. upper body moment is not much but that consistent long step hop is the main reason for his success. I wont be surprised if he defends third gold too unless some other folks step inn. post covid marathon has lost its charm( like short circuit in preparation and building it is very hard) also incentive is poor. if you put same energy in tennis you can make a living( like that whole eastern europe has gone berserk in tennis!) or best even golf! marathon has become very expensive. shoes, monitors, diet, cloths and you have to make time for it and consistently for weeks. on top of pain your body has to go through. there is no event to for winner takes it all and million dollar at stake( the dubai marathon did it but price money is not that high now) so it has become an individual thing rather than any sort of monetary reward! so comes at a financial loss!

@@runforyourlife7229 the marathon time of kipchoge is nowhere near his best the time of 2.18 has been run million times since the event began. so dont be caught up in that shoe boosted flat berlin run! when somebody runs under 2 hours in olympics we shall see. it wont happen any time soon as olympics are a different beasts.

@@king_has_no_clothskul8635 Yes for sure but while the circumstances were slightly different for the ineos challenge, Kipchoge still managed to run it sub 2 with his own legs which is just mind blowing! But yes, let's see for the next olympics if somebody can do it there!!

@@runforyourlife7229 olympics price money is less.does not have pace-setters that and this. they are all there to win it. unlike here he had the team running and setting pace for him. so olympics times have never really improved even with great kipochege was my point. there training is exemplary and takes years to master like anything in life. but after last olympics others nations seems to be coming up.
