I'm an unlikely follower of your program, being a 61 year old pianist with a hip injury. I love your clear- headed, obsessive and methodical approach. And I find your success story very inspiring. Even at my stage of the game, I like to be told there are hopes and possibilities!

Hello! Does iliopsoas stretch work? I have very stiff left hip flexors and painful.. I'm working on stretching but it is getting worse... I see some dudes on you tube that they insist not to stretch psoas but strengthen it instead? I'm not sure what to do

@@GotROM I’m trying, I have cam impingement in both hips. I’m working on strength and flexibility. Your personal story has given me hope over the last few years. Fai is a weird condition, for example.. I could once train in kickboxing and kick well without pain, but when I’d cooled down at the end of a session my groin area would hurt for days. I put up with this for several years, got diagnosed in 2015. Had op in 2016 and 2017 (to file bone, repair labrum). Today in 2021 hip is just the same, no change. I think my point is that even after surgery my hip felt no different, the pinching still there. I only had the right hip operated on, I have impingement in both. Right feels same as left. This has to be to do with muscles not just bone shape. I do tissue work now and strengthen in end ranges, it’s a long road but a journey I’ll take.

Hey Shane, I've been implementing some athletic training into my regime that takes a lot of time and effort, and have been warming up using some shaolin ballistic stretching after a quick jump rope session. I have your ballistic stretching program, and I'm wondering if its ok to follow that program before my current training protocol? ... Or if it is better to do the ballistic stretching in a separate training session i.e. the Morning?
@GotROM
@GotROM 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen! Have you tried doing them before and in the morning? How does your body feel? In general, it's best to follow a stretching program before athletic training. On the other hand, your body is the boss. If you feel more loose and mobile doing it at a separate time (in the morning), then that might be the best option for you. Hope that helps!

hey man. great video - inspiring, seems like my own journey except my flexibility has gotten worse in some areas because of niggles here and there. I was wondering, do you have any idea why sitting in a deep squat would cause medial knee pain? I've been doing 20mins per day for a month now and i'm getting really intense pain in my inner knee. Feels like a internal rotation issue in my hips, or perhaps tightness in my hamstrings. No idea. I saw a physio hoping to get some insight and she said sitting in a squat is not a good idea period , which is totally disagree with because the exercise itself has resolved ankle and hip issues for me, and aside from just feeling great. Hard finding people with the right perspective to address issues like this, so im back to the drawing board. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Could be a ankle, knee and/or hip restriction. Hard to say exaclty what without personally evaluating you. Have you checked out my 45-day "Deep Squats" program? It would be a massive help! www.gotrom.com/deep-squats-bundle

58 yo jui jitsu practioner who spent most my life trying to push more weight than have mobility and flexibility. I would rather fight/roll than deal w the discomfort of gaining flexibility. But due to injuries I’m at a crossroad of regaining flexibility or quit jui jitsu 🤨 wish I could find a video of a 60yo warrior regaining flexibility instead of some soft spoken 30yo who thinks he’s defied the second law of thermodynamics
