Prioritize painting over KZbin, Instagram etc. I've lost so much time to just pointless fluff on social media that I probably could have finished a couple armies if I had used it on hobbying instead.

@denisdaly52003 ай бұрын
I like seeing how Ciara tried something and it didn't work out. Not because I want people to fail, but because for me, I try things and they don't work, but on videos content creators rarely fail or f*%$ up. So it's refreshing to see someone take a risk, not work but have the honesty to still leave it in the video. As a hobby trial and error is a given, but not often seen. Excellent video, all the models look great!

@JPR3D3 ай бұрын
As a guy who takes about a month to paint 10 minis, yes enjoy the hobby. The moment I feel rushed to finish something, I don't paint as well as I want to and I resent it. I don't have any newborns but I do have a fairly full schedule, so I dedicate time to painting during weeknights, usually it's not more than an hour. I do have an intention to finish at least 1 completed mini by the end of every Sunday which keeps me on track without needing a strict timetable. The new sculpts are great, the amount of small details on the skaven models is fantastic. A friend and I split the Skaventide box, and I have the Skaven half. I'm hoping I can use the same models with swapping bases for W̶F̶B̶ The Old World, as I'd always decided if I got into Fantasy I'd pick Skaven, yes-yes.
@foreverfornever11243 ай бұрын
A very loaded topic question indeed. Iv always imagined there is a motivating balance between hobby life and real life. Depending on the circumstances of personal life, when its something your really passionate about whether it is a new box set for a favorite army, a brand new game, or maybe a competition piece, youll find the right amount of time to want to do it whether thats more time to actually paint or just simply being faster with the time you have. And vice versa for personal life as well, congrats on the baby!! Obviously a baby is far more important than a simple hobby could ever be, even if its a business like yall have. But Im sure you guys would rather spend more time with your baby and be a family as opposed to hobby stuff so you set aside more time for the baby that is neccessary in those early months and years of their development, hobbying when you can find the time too. Although me personally, I have no babies or kids and that box would still take me like half a year to do lol

I tend to do 10-30 minute sessions for my painting. My biggest trick is to have the brushes out and ready, the models you want to work on on said desk, and most importantly? Your most commonly used paints right there, ready to go. This does require not only having a dedicated area to paint, but also for it to be safe for anyone else in the place (which is kind of hard with young ones and/or most types of pets - if you fish are getting into your paints, I suspect you've got bigger problems to worry about!)

Work smart! not hard! If you use techniques like slap chop, zenithal priming or undercoating with contrast or speed paints you can achieve good results for gaming and further extend them with traditional layering and edge highlighting when you're in the mood to torture yourself. Also there are several good recipies for alternate washes like marine juice or alys brown stuff (liquid) for shading entire miniatures.
