OF DORSO-LUMBAR SPINE MR imaging of lower dorse-lumbar spine was performed & high resolution TIW, T2W images were obtained in axial & sagittal planes with additional STIR images in coronal plane.. FINDINGS: The spinal curvature is straightened, suggestive of possibly paraspinal muscle spasm Vertebral bodies are normal in height, alignment & bone marrow signal intensity with no osseous destruction. 14-5 and L5-S1 intervertebral discs show altered signal intensity and reduced disc height suggestive of disc dessication. Normal signal intensity seen in discs at other levels. Posterior-central dise protrusion is seen at L5-S1 intervertebral level, with propensity towards left side with amerior thecal sac compression and compromising bilateral lateral recesses, left more than right side with possible compression of traversing and exiting nerve roots there-in Posterior annular dise protrusion is seen at 1.4-5 intervertebral level, indenting upon the thecal sac and compromising hilateral lateral recesses, right more than left side with possible compression of exiting nerve root on right side The spinal cord is seen coursing along the spinal canal with normal parenchymal signal intensity with no overt syringobydromyelia. There is no MR evidence of low teethering of spinal cord The tip of conus medullaris is seen at 11 vertebral level. No evidence of pre or para spinal mass lesion seen Mid sagittal diameters of thecal sec at disc level are:- L1-2-17.3 mm 12-3-17.3 mm 13-4-17.2 mm 14-5-13.7 mm 15-81-9.6 mm. Mid saggital diameters of thecal sac at vertebral levels are: L1-17.0 mm 12-17.0 mm 13-15.8 mm 1.4 15.7 mm 15-13.0 mm Impression: The spinal curvature is straightened, suggestive of possibly paraspinal muscle spasm. 14-5 and 15-S1 intervertebral disex show altered signal intensity and reduced disc height suggestive of disc dessication. Findings: Spine There is no evidence of pre or paravertebral collection. contrast. Straightening of the normal lumbar lordosis seen. The lumbar vertebrae reveal normal height and marrow signal intensity on T2W and STIR sequences. The lower most vertebra is assumed as L5 at lumbo-sacral joint with conventional anatomy. The filum terminale and the nerve roots of cauda equina appear normal. canal at this level measures approx 18mm. narrowing of bilateral lateral recesses without nerve root compression. AP diameter of the spinal diameter of the spinal canal at this level measures approx 18mm. L3-L4 level: Mild diffuse disc bulge is noted, causing mild compression of the thecal sac with Degenerative spondylotic changes are noted, with presence of small marginal osteophytes, partial dise narrowing of bilateral lateral recesses (lef>right) without nerve root compression. AP diameter of narrowing of bilateral lateral recesses (left>right) with abutment of bilateral exiting nerve roots. AP the spinal canal at this level measures approx 19.4mm. LS-SI level: Mild diffuse dise bulge is noted, causing mild compression of the thecal sac with The conus medullaris is normal in caliber & signal intensity and terminates at L1 level. Technical Details: Multiplanar, multi-sequence MRI of the lumbo-sacral spine was performed without 1V desiccation at some levels and mild ligamentum lavum hypertropiy. L4-LS level: Mild diffuse disc bulge is noted, causing mild compression of the thecal sac with
