How long does Lifetime Transmissions & Gear Fluid Last? (Laboratory Tested)

Busting all those myths and rumors about the lifetime fluid. You will even hear dealerships and professionals say it is not real but that is because they want your money!
I tested my 2010 Hyundai Genesis with 150K miles and heavy use here in Colorado with mountains and 4 seasons. We sent in a sample to Blackstone Laborites and it came out great. Better than most oils at 70K

lifetime for gear lube, no issues. I have around 300k on my Infiniti g35 and the lube looks almost new and works just fine. Lifetime fluid on the transmission. NEVER.

Interesting data point! I'm sure it didn't smell good but the color when it was draining looked pretty fresh so it was nice to see that visual cue backed up by the report.

How come one of the most reliable car brand Toyota ask their customers to change their Transmission oil then ? Sometimes it has to do with work hours and what type of conditions we are talking. Imagine a car that made 300K miles in city. Constantly switching lower gears and think about a highway mile car ? Which fluid is better ???

i never change my transmission fluid on my toyota rav4 2015 and it last me above 210k ... many people said i need to change every 60k but my friend told me not to change it bc lifetime... he said as long as i dont change it, my transmission can last up to 300k before i throw it away ... he said for old car, u need to change it every 50-60k but for modern car, they sealed transmission and debris rarely get inside the the fluid design to last the lifetime of the car...right now, my car is 210 and i hope it can last up to 300k... so far, my shift is still good...

It is wild how long fluids are lasting these days. I think it depends on how you drive, and that the transmission does not get any moisture inside it. I am at 160K with the same transmission fluid in my wife's car. No issues.

@@DriversTherapy me 2 ... just go with the manual ..if it says life time then dont need to do anything... i have a KIA CAR and it said change every 50k so i just change it.. for toyota, it said not change it ... but I like toyota better than kIA .. KIA parts suck ... for example, their engine mounts last only 60k then u have to buy a new one.. my rav4 engine mounts last me 150k .. that is why i like toyota better than korea cars

Life time fluid? Open differential...Maybe. Limited slip differential, not so much. Automatic transmission...no. Engine oil...Definitely not!

When you are an engineer designing this stuff under a major company with or seeking outside investor that have zero passion for anything other than ROI you will realize why manufacturers aren't to be trusted and how they outright lie.
