Spot on. I expect the production 'line' is/was an expensive build. The sooner it can be paid off the better.

I think the best new feature that Tesla added with this vehicle is powershare. From what I understand, you will be getting similar functionality as a powerwall. The foundation series will include gateway hardware, and I think the trimotor version will include a $4000 allowance for installation of that hardware. A lot of money but a lot of functionality as well. If they can extend this powershare feature to all of their vehicles, that could be a game changer for Tesla.
@dpav0210 ай бұрын
100 percent agree. My buddy got a generator installed in a similar size home as me - $18k. The price for a Powerwall without installation is what like $11k? For only 13.5kwhs? And I’d want at least 2 or 3. I already have a 2021 Model Y that I love, but the peace of mind I could have a few circuits backed up by my vehicle is insanely appealing to me. Therefore I put down the now $250 deposit for the AWD version (Christmas Day, 23) So, Merry Christmas to me! And I hope I don’t get it for like 3 years because I need to save and my Model Y is doing just fine. I’m not in a hurry.
@rgeraldalexander427810 ай бұрын
Yep, $1,000 non-refundable deposit on a foundation series here in Maryland on December 22nd. I reserved on the night of the unveiling and was in the first 22,000 according to the owners club numbers. I didn't see anything in the deposit email about restrictions on reselling the truck for profit. There were 444 other club members that said they had put down deposits, mostly for the AWD version.
@Stone81510 ай бұрын
I think they said they would make at least 1k of them. If they are reaching out to people in the 11k spots, that may mean 10-20% adoption rate for the Founders Ed.
@michaellatta10 ай бұрын
I imagine they sent out more emails than they had units, and when they were taken, they stopped. I bet the foundation version will go for the first 10k at least if they are doing it as long as the buyers are there. If it is still foundation next year I may need to make that choice. We would buy FSD and pay for premium connectivity, so foundation is not that bad a deal for us. Whether it is worth trading in our model y is the question.

I was shocked I got invited on 12/9 with a 50k reservation number but thought well I am in CA and they said going out only to CA and TX but now going pretty much everywhere so pretty confused. My input is no way they are only making 1,000 FS. Maybe more like 10,000+. My guess is they will sell as many as they can make in 2024 which I think they could hit 40-50,000 in 2024. I would not expect non-FS to happen until 2025 if the demand is there. My AWD is 100k which to me is not a lot more then I would have paid for a NON-EV Truck. I was expecting to pay $87,000 with FSD at $7,000 based on my original reservation which I was not sure they would honor that anyway. And, I really "want" to get it ASAP.
@southrpv883910 ай бұрын
They’ll definitely build Foundation Series versions as long as people are buying them. Which is unfortunate, because reservation #200 who just wants the $80k dual motor will get jumped by #10,000 who’s willing to pay $20k extra. While Tesla is capturing those extra $, it’ll cost them in lowering customer satisfaction overall.

HI! --preface-- I am a normal guy, huge Tesla fan, not an A-hole scalper. I just put my 1k down on the Dual motor, and should get it by march. there is no way I can afford a payment of 80k (20k down) on this truck. Is there a chance that I could sell this for a bit of a profit right away after a month or so, or do we believe the prices will drop, and I should tell tesla to hold off on my order as I wait for the lower model? Honest question, as I'm not looking for only profit, I just don't want to lose money when I "find out" I cant afford it by a long shot. Thank you!

Surprised you didn't mention the warnings Tesla send out recently against scalping, and the really really heavy consequences they apparently found a legal way to actually make you face (things like, no joke, a 50.000 dollar fine among many other very very bad things) charges for if you do it. They ain't playing around on that front it seems, which might be a good thing, cause that looks an awfull lot like they might not let demand be the sole decider of when prices start to lower, instead just one of them. We need gen 2-3 cybercells so that we can get the 80.000$ dual motor with 500 miles of range (without taking up extra space in the bed) All Teslas are quickly going to get a haircut bu the time this happens.
@techyjames194510 ай бұрын
You’re forgetting one thing. The $7500 off at point of sale is only through a vehicle purchased at a dealership. So Tesla would still be an end of year tax credit. I image they will make a minimum of 1000 foundation.
@jackylsmith81384 ай бұрын
Let’s do the math. 20 CT per day times 365 days in a year = 7,300. I guess they are really gonna have to buy 4680’s from China. Then bye bye tax break.
@jackylsmith81384 ай бұрын
Tesla cannot make that many 4680 battery packs. Things are so bad and it costs so much. If the cost does not get reduced to a price lower than they can buy batteries. 4680’s are going away by the end of the year. Yes it’s that bad.

@jasonstroup412310 ай бұрын
You do realize that despite a similar range estimate the Hummer has a battery capacity twice that of the Cybertruck(123kWh vs. 247kWh). You might eek out a few extra miles on the freeway with the Hummer, but it's not like you can skip an exit and drive to the next EV charging station 3 miles down the road. The CT will pass you after the first stop when it takes half the time to charge.

It really depends on what your towing. I have a 2500 pound foldable camper. With the model Y I can get 125 to 150 miles at highway speeds(45-55mph). Freeway speeds decimate it though. Anything over 65 mph or 75mph and I get less than 80 miles of range. I think the real question is, unless your hauling a horse trailer or heavy equipment why are you towing 11000 pounds. RVs have really got out of hand. It's really disturbing to go to RV shows now. If the idea is to get away from your house why are you towing your house with you.

Tesla is doing the equivalent of huge dealer markups. This is a perfect demonstration of why, contrary to people's beliefs, the direct to consumer model versus the dealership model has no benefit to consumers.
@dvader326310 ай бұрын
Sure, spending a few minutes ordering a Tesla online at a set price and then several more minutes getting approved for a loan is exactly the same as spending 3 hours at a dealership while they try to take advantage of you with mark-ups, add ons and BS while raking you over the coals.😂
@JayCAlan10 ай бұрын
You didn't address my point at all. Where is the savings here by cutting out the middle man? Consumers pay the price for an item that the market dictates, regardless of who is collecting the final payment. Now, if you want to talk time savings, I think walking into a dealer and selecting from existing inventory is much much faster than ordering online and waiting months or years, (or indefinitely?) for your car to arrive. @@dvader3263
