Mace Windu was right. Anakin made a terrible Jedi Knight. But, that's not a bad thing. In the same way Qui-Gon was an outcast among the other Jedi Masters.

Qui Gon and Anakin were both rebels who openly questioned the Jedi Code. The only difference was Qui Gon was far wiser and much more disciplined. If he lived he would have helped Anakin a lot better than Obi Wan

I think Mace Windu is a bit misunderstood. Yes he definitely had his faults. He is like the super strict father who shows tough love. He is just incredibly stubborn and prideful.

I was surprised that Mace took Obi-wan’s side in becoming a Jedi knight & taking Anakin as his apprentice. Also Mace can see through people shatter points, I had no idea he had that.

Mace was childishly jealous of Anakin because he thought he was the chosen one, not Anakin. And ended up getting killed by the "young kid" he always wanted to avoid from becoming powerful.

The Jedi Council and the way they collectively managed the Order is why Anakin fell to the Darkside. The Jedi way of avoiding attachment, being inconsistent about their position in politics and in the Clone Wars, as well as being very arrogant about the Sith created an Order that was ill equipped in totality to accommodate the emotional needs of a powerful yet scared slave boy from Tatooine.

I think if windu had trusted anakin more to make the right decision it could have worked as the ill trust from windu towards anakin pushed him more into negative emotions, anger as such. Also if he had asked him to come along when they needed to arrest palpatine i think the situation could have been different also as with palpatine having to engage windu and anakin in a lightsaber duel he would not have been able to play his mind games but who knows as the situation could still have been the same.

Interesting take, if you want to see a better approach to Mace and Anakins relationship look at the legends ROTS novel and read Shatterpoint for Mace's character arc. I feel Mace is better characterised in legends than in Canon where the only traits he has is a blind mistrust in Anakin to a fault and anyone who dares question the Jedi code.

The only thing I'll say even if Mace wasn't the sole reason I don't really believe he was totally innocent either. Personally I think all the shatter points and using dark side with his lightsaber style ended up making him crazy by the third movie.

Windu was notably harder on anakin than he was with other jedi and distrustful of his judgment given his background. The stance he took towards anakin was not necessarily misplaced but i think its more than reasonable to say he was harsher than he should have been

Mace wasn't the main reason Anakin fell, however he was a major reason with the way he treated Anakin.

To be fair, Mace was very strict with Anakin. While he respected Anakin for his abilities, he never really shown Anakin trust even after all the success and efforts he has shown in the clone wars. Yes Anakin was a hothead and let his emotions get the best of him but he should have at least some trust.

@@komikbookgeek if I was Anakin I would have been extremely pissed off. He spent a lot of time training and putting up with a lot of BS and made a lot of valuable contributions to the war. I am not saying Anakin should get 100% trust because he did hide his relationship with Padme from the Jedi Order. And Anakin does have a habit of disobeying orders but he does get results. He should get at least 60% trust.

@@komikbookgeek also I would like to add that when Ahsoka was falsely accused of a crime she didn't commit, Mace never apologized for it. That was what really made me dislike Mace. Sure Anakin had his faults for sure but for Mace to not apologize to Anakin's student and push her away from the Jedi Order really put a serious strain on their relationship.

Mace is way overhated in the fandom. It's true that he didn't trust Anakin. The thing people like to ignore is that his mistrust was COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED. The fact that he was convinced to start murdering children so easily pretty much proves Mace was right not to completely trust him. Blaming Mace and not Anakin himself is backwards.

The Jedi Order focused on their code of ethics and traditions" i don't hold that against them, after all" they are a religious sect, -who are separate from The Galactic Republic. The charge of being stagnant and full of hubris can be made provided The Jedi Order serves The Galactic Republic, but" The Order is separate from The Republic -The Jedi do not serve The Republic. The Sith" Vader and Sidious are supposed to be separate from The Galactic Republic -like The Jedi. This is why Palpatine created The First Galactic Empire" The Sith are supposed to rule over an empire -not a republic. If The Jedi weren't peacekeepers and they left Coruscant for Dantooine -and kept to themselves, The Sith wouldn't bother with them" Sidious would say : "Let them meditate in the countryside" ! And, as for Anakin" he'd become a Sith either way -it's his destiny, Palpatine would seek him eventually.🌈🤓

I never thought that Mace was supportive of Anakin's training. He seemed like he had some animus towards Anakin in the Prequels. Now I think of it, Mace probably would've been a better teacher for Anakin than Obi wan. He would be more of a "tough love" Father figure for Anakin.

That is horrible headcanon. In his first decades as jedi he didn't even believe that the jedi are balanced in the force. And rots novel stated that, he respects Anakin, and he said that Anakin arguably is the most powerful jedi. He didn't really cared about himself. He just worried about the jedi.
