@Jartran722 жыл бұрын
En passent is a one dimensional move that is only possible in a very specific situation and can always only result in the taking of a pawn and at best a discovered check. It is not possible to be brilliant with it, just to screw up by allowing it.

I feel people are short sighted in Levy's content on Magnus and how often/prominent he showcases him. Imagine a future once Magnus has finished his top level career and there is all this content for people to go back to and learn from. To see the empire and how it was perceived during Magnus's reign will be the real gem in the end for this channel in my opinion. To Levy: You aren't riding the coattails of Magnus's success but helping provide a historical narrative for generations to come and that, in my opinion, will be your greatest accomplishment.

To get a real idea of how good "the guy in the white shirt" is, you have to watch him demolish 2500, 2600 players. I watched one game recently I'd call "The Bulldozer Game" because it looked like he shoved black's pieces off the back of the board. That was against Kobalia or something similar, a rapid game. The resigned position had all black's pieces (Q, R, two knights) on 7th and 8th rank with no forward moves that wouldn't get taken, set to lose a knight immediately, then trade Q's, and probably a mate in four or five, a number of white's pawns on the 5th rank. One would laugh, were it not for the fact that black was played by a 2600 player who could certainly wipe me off the board.

16:52 why does Nisipeanu not play b5, then when the bishop moves, go Rad7? I guess u don’t want to overextend your pawns/make ur knight weak, but it gains so much space, the knight is in no immediate danger, and the rook is infinitely more active on d7 than a8.

Asian prefer knights because in Chinese chess the bishop cant deliver check and is more of a defender and doesn't control as much square since it can't cross into enemy territory hence the reason why it can't give check so probably why Ni Hua traded the bishop so early as he is use to chinese chess. Just my theory as I watched ding liren game against magnus with a nasty knight move that won the game since the knight moves similarly the same in both board game. I transition from Chinese chess to this one so I know the feeling as I was horrible with my bishops but good with my knights until I saw the value of it later on playing thousands of games. Now time to go learn shogi.

18:30 what was the actual issue here? Levi said Nisipeanu should trade a rook and took a pawn instead, but they did trade in the end - was it the King abandoning the g7 pawn? Because the Knight on the other side of the board wouldnt really stop the second rook from infiltrating.
