Manchester United was formed in 1878 as "Newton Heath LYR F.C." and our club Manchester City was formed in 1880 as "St. Mark's (West Gorton)". But in 1887 we changed name from "St. Mark's (West Gorton)" to "Ardwick Association Football Club", then in 1894 Changed to "Manchester City Football Club". In 1902 "Newton Heath LYR F.C." went bust, but were saved and they changed the name to "Manchester United".

In 1902 Newly formed Manchester United were so hard up they had to ask City for the previous seasons second strip as they couldn't afford a new one, in 1931 again United surviving on average gate of 14,000 were City's average gate was 28,500 United asked city for the previous seasons second strip as they couldn't afford to buy a new one, it was only after the second World War when United appointed ex City player Matt Busby as manager did United's fortunes begin to match City, during the 50's with the Busby babes did United begin to get more support than City, that support grew after the tragedy of Munich where United's support and success grew exponentially, but how can that be City have no history, now the tables are turning.

I’m not here to have a go at Utd. However, City won the FA Cup in 1904 and that is the first ever trophy for Manchester. The most recent being the World Club Champions trophy, also at City.

If you knew anything about history you would have acknowledged the post above that points out that Man City hold the record for a home competitive English match at over 84,500, way back in 1934. High crowds at City were regular back then for years and there were even plans to extend the ground, only the outbreak of WW2 prevented it from happening.

The fact that they feel the need to comment on city at all shows a remarkable level if insecurity now that City are not only winning consistently but ripping up the record books on a regular basis along the way. One thing nobody can deny is that the City Football Group have done far more than anybody in Manchester for the community than anybody else ever have, probably anywhere. Say what you like about the owners but they have put their money in and given Manchester, the PL and the country a club to be proud in. The charges are a complete farce and given the relatively tiny amounts alleged to be involved, make no sense at all. It's nothing but an ego trip by the PL who wanted to prove to the government that they know how to keep their house in order but in the end will actually achieve the opposite and prove only that they don't have a clue how to run a car boot stall. A lot of people and businesses could learn a lot from the way City are run. I can understand United fans being bitter, because but for the Glazers this could have been them.
