No you're right the fiction he can exert (with his weight, those shoes, that floor) has a limit. If he's sliding it simply means that the force he needs to pull exceeds the force his shoes can exert so we really don't know how much he can pull. Its like a truck hydroplaning. @michiel5160
@michiel5160 7 ай бұрын
Increased surface area doesn't increase friction. Total mass and materials of the shoes and floor (floor is same for everyone) does. 8 4th graders will outweigh him quit a bit.
@JoelSapp
@JoelSapp 7 ай бұрын
@@michiel5160 Agreed. Sliding friction is the coefficient of friction between the socks against the floor and the force against the floor. I don't remember how many girls to where it equaled out but saw he was jerking and knocking them over. Let's say he couldn't do that and it was a tug contest (like two trucks with same roadway and same tires) - the heavier always wins

@@staceygram5555 Yeah it's all about total mechanical friction. The girls have a larger net surface area of contact and ultimately a high force output possible from that.

it's not THAT shocking that he can make his 150kg frame jump high considering he deadlifts 300kg+... similar muscle groups are used, Mitch is 6"3 according to google and @5:20 he's completely splayed out while dunking... that looks like a full 10 foot ring

@idk9637 70-80 x 10 = 700-800 lbs plus 20 feet it's massive surface area for friction. Not to mention they all have varying times of pulling whereas mitch has to go for big bursts of pull he can't pull equally at all times. Meaning when his burst is over he slides back any progress he gains. Lastly I'll mention probably the average girl here could deadlift about 60-100 lbs is my guess so I really think he is stronger than all combined based on pure force. The variables of the tug is what messes it up

@@Foresight-yy1ecNot outmuscle. But definitely outweigh and outfriction. All twelve of them together definitely don't come anywhere near his strength still. But they do have enough combined strength and weight to shift his 330lbs, and since they have 24 platforms against his 2, they win.

Tug of war is mostly a game of grip. So you have a few options to make grip, stickier shoes, shoes that dig into the ground like cleats on grass, increasing the force pressing your foot too the ground (weight more), or pulll upward on the rope, pulling up wards does two things, one it uses a little bit if the opponents weight to help press you into the ground, and 2, that same amount it presses you into the ground extra, it lifts the other side giving them slightly less grip. As you can see their are "coordination" issues as well where people fall over sometimes, those are also times of lower grip cause rubber grips the floor better than clothing. There are some options where you can use temporary jerks of said rope to set them off balance but typically its a pretty gimmicky strat. I guess if you play on a magnetic floor with magnetic shoes this could be a different game entirely. But without "extra" grip typically you aren't at a point where core bracing,grip strength, rowing ability, and the like make a significant difference.

@notrius7754 Why don't you just marry him lol 20-30?? You're delusional. What do you think he is a Clydesdale?? He's one guy. If each kid can pull like 50-70lbs and there's say 15 kids, that's upwards 1050lbs sustained load he has to awkwardly hold on to and fight against not to mention if they were synchronized in their tugging efforts that load could be upwards of 1300lb or more every time they tugged. But yeah double it to 30 now?? Uhhh okkk... Do it on concrete and they'll have even more of a chance! If it were an actual event the kids would not only practice for it but they would be selected based on performance and that number selected would be 10-12 not f'n 30... lol

Keeping in mind the increased friction due to the amount of shoes and therefore contact area the fourthgraders were having on the floor that had to be overcome by the worlds strongest man, I suppose he had a much harder time defending than if they measured the strength alone.
