1. The Vietnam War (1955-1975): The Vietnam War is considered one of the biggest defeats in U.S. history. The U.S. intervened to support the South Vietnamese government against the communist North, but the high human and material costs, along with internal protests, led to the withdrawal of U.S. forces in 1973, followed by the fall of Saigon in 1975. 2. The Burning of Washington (1812-1815): During the War of 1812 against Britain, the U.S. suffered several defeats. One of the most notable was when British forces captured Washington, D.C., in 1814, setting fire to the White House and other government buildings. 3. The Korean War (1950-1953): While the Korean War ended in an armistice, it was an indecisive conflict for the U.S. After intervening to support South Korea against North Korea, backed by China and the Soviet Union, the U.S. failed to achieve a decisive victory, and the Korean Peninsula remains divided to this day. 4. The Bay of Pigs Invasion (1961): A failed U.S.-backed attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro's regime in Cuba through supporting Cuban exiles. The operation ended in disaster and was a major political embarrassment for the U.S. government. 5. The Fall of Afghanistan (2001-2021): The war in Afghanistan lasted two decades, with the U.S. attempting to dismantle the Taliban and bring stability to the country. In 2021, with the Taliban regaining control after the U.S. withdrawal, many viewed this as a significant strategic defeat. These defeats highlighted the limits of U.S. military power and had lasting impacts on its domestic and foreign policies.

I am Chinese. China did not ban Harry Potter. Bookstores are full of Harry Potter books. When I was in school, the school also organized us to watch the Harry Potter movies.
North Korea does not ban each book individually. They simply banned any foreign culture. This does not prevent the DPRK from being the most educated country in the world with 100% literacy
@UberSpahАй бұрын
DPRK isn't the most educated country... And 100% literacy rate isn't necessarily true. It's hard to measure literacy rate in such a closed country, and they could report false info to make them seem better than they are. Besides, even if they have 100% literacy rate, quality of education is still questionable, and there are other countries with 95%-100% literacy rates with much better education.

The reason why books like this are banned in North Korea is because the rulers there want to isolate North Korea from the world. Books from the outside world are banned in North Korea because things belonging to other countries, especially the books in this video, hinder the isolation of North Korea from the world. Religious books have been banned in North Korea due to the government's strong reluctance for people to practice religion.

Banning the quoran and the bible is the best decision ever made by a nation. Kudo to north Korea
@UberSpahАй бұрын
I'm an atheist, but banning religious scripture would be violation of freedom of thought and speech. On the other hand, Christianity and Islam were spread by colonization and indoctrination, destroying native cultures of many nations. So, in conclusion I think this is still the best decision North Korea has ever made.
