You know what I would love to see? A breakdown of each one of these homes… With photos of the interiors. You could narrate and tell us things about each one. What I’ve learned about being a KZbin influencer is that you can always break down topics further and further into more detail for your viewers. I, for one, would absolutely love to see the interiors of each of these castles palaces and homes. Thank you for all you do! ❤

Interesting.... I remember during my 1978 trip to England, we toured the grounds of the Tower of London. We were informed that the White Tower was still an official royal palace, although the last monarch to use it as a residence was Elizabeth I.

England? Why do Americans always say England when the video is about the whole United Kingdom . The UK comprises Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, not just England. The monarch is not, as so many Americans seem to think, the Queen or King "of England ", but monarch of the whole of the UK.

And if I may add, St. George’s Chapel, it is where Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Helen, The Countess of Wessex got married too. Now, the Royal couple been married for over 23 years.

Breathtaking. I'm always fascinated by the cash to maintain (staff, upkeep of its physical structures) and whether all that is private or British tax payers foot much of the bill but get none of the benefits. At a human level, I'm also just in awe how many homes a family needs! My 1800 square foot rambler is a normal American 1950's home and just fine. It's hard to emotionally grasp someone calling several places "home" and whether you buy many of the same item for those creature comforts you want when you're in somewhere you call home (vs staying a hotel.) Of course, this fascination is one reason I fell in love with your show and now your KZbin channel! :)

The revenue from the Crown Estate, (rents and rates etc) all go into the public Treasury (ie the Government)

Most of these are owned by the Crown Estate not the Royal Family. Balmoral and Sandringham Estate are privately owned by the Queen. The Royal Family generate a lot of income and employ a lot of people and very little tax payers money is used

My favorite is and easy one. Llwynywermod, King Charles' home in Wales. The palaces are grand and I would love to tour them and even be able to stay a night or two, but Llwynywermod is a home I would happily live in. The renovations they made to the place are lovely, environmentally friendly, respect the history of the house and give it cozy, country charm. I think it's probably Charles' favorite residence to visit.

Julie, you could have mentioned that St. James Palace hosts diplomatic events because all ambassadors to the UK are accredited to "The Court of St. James." The duke hasn't lived there for many years and its been rented out. I believe he left as he was struggling to afford the upkeep on the house and estate. Maybe selling it to avoid his son having to pay inheritance tax.

You are thinking of Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Prince Albert bought it and then rebuilt it to his specifications for Queen Victoria. After her death it was gifted to the nation by Edward VII and is now run by English Heritage and is open to the public. You can actually hire parts of it for weddings and functions.

If only a very, very rich person would walk up and buy the Montague family house again and gift it back to all of you! Sounds so unbelievable but if the right person should read this and they have lots of money * yes, there are some super rich people who could do this and think nothing of it! Do not give up this dream that in some grand way it will all come back. It is not really asking too much. Thank you for this interesting and very educational information about the 30 -plus Royal Homes of the royals. The only thing is moving that much or just trying to stay in so many homes throughout the year could be quite confusing and pulling up your roots in that way is not always stabilizing the family.. But sharing it with your grown family and making sure extended and close family, all have places to live, is highly regarded.

Just a couple of slight corrections if I may, the Royal Family only own Balmoral House and Sandringham outright and those pass down the line through Charles and William, after being "bought" back by George VI from the Edward when he abdicated etc, the majority of other properties you mention are controlled/owned by one of two entities, one being the Crown Estates, which manage the likes of Buckingham Palace and Clarence House and secondly the Historic Royal Palaces which control and manage the likes of Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London. The exceptions being the likes of Gatcombe Park, Barnwell and Thatched House Lodge which were privately owned, by their royal inhabitants. As for Hampton Court, that was originally built for Cardinal Wolsey and "gifted" (taken from him) to Henry VIII before he died, and massively expanded by Henry VIII and by later Monarchs until the whole new wing was built by William and Mary following the Restoration. Llwynwermod is also available to rent through the Duchy of Cornwall.
@vpsaltis66402 жыл бұрын
Osborne House was owned by Queen Victoria. Windsor castle. Are these Crown Estate rather than private homes? There are so many properties that could be a part 2.

They OWN Balmoral and Sandringham officially. You could add Castle Mey and Highgrove
