I really love this episode and the timing. I have been working on reducing my sneaker collection. I have 80 pair which may not sound alot to people but to me it was getting out of hand. Time to focus on saving and building wealth. Time spent on chasing shoes ,entering draws and all other things to get a shoe can be spent on other things(like family or connecting with people. Don't get me wrong I LOVE SNEAKERS. Just don't want my life to just revolve only around accumulating more SNEAKERS.

Every other day I have the internal dialogue of getting the collection down to 100 as well 😅 It would actually be decent for rotations as well because every pair gets 3 or 4 wears in the year compared to none in 2+ years. I get the feeling Joe's got so much rare/high resell value pairs in his collection, that the bulk sale he'd opt for would be like a retirement plan to make a couple years of salary 😂 This was very relatable dialogue 👌🏾Also, Ghanian is pronounced "gah-nee-uh n".

I loved sneakers since I was a kid in the 90s and collected for years getting to a large amount however I’ve narrowed down to sub 20 pairs now. I have a rule now that whatever I get I need to actually wear along along with get one/drop one rule otherwise it’s just consumerism and bad for the environment. I’ve learnt to appreciate the amazing pairs I do own, style them up but still appreciate and loves the designs of new sneakers, collabs etc without having to own every pair, hell I’m back to buying only two new ones a year. I still enjoy and engage myself in your podcast and FSR etc. Maybe and this might only be me, you can be a sneaker head without owning everything that comes out. Keep up the great work lads 👍

Feels like this episode came at the right time, I've just gone through my collection and downsized considerably. Pairs that I will never wear again and don't hold any sentimental value to me I got rid of - and I'm sure that if I needed them again I could find a pair easily. Getting rid of a inline Air Max 1 for £80-£120 doesn't seem like much but getting rid of 10 pairs makes the value a lot more appealing! Rather keep pairs that are hard to find, or that I wear a lot and let someone else enjoy a pair of mine more than I would.

I started making a "grail" list because I didn't want to set a limit on the amount of shoes I have, but I found myself buying too many pairs I didn't care about just cuz I thought the price was good and then never wearing them again. With the grail list, now I can only buy pairs that are on that list (still 100+ pairs long), but at least it keeps my hunt focused

I think it really depends on your situation. Like $1500 can't get you a big space in California but it can in South Carolina lol. Also, have to think about your spouse. I can't imagine many spouses will be happy seeing sneaker boxers in every other room 😬 I only have about 40 and I think that's too much 😂

I live in Charleston, SC, average rent for a 2 bedroom here is in fact $1,500. In my 2 bedroom I have just over 50 pairs between sneakers, couple pairs of dress shoes, and a couple pair of Crocs.

This episode came at the right time for me! Recently had to trim off the collection down to 20 pairs. Traveling constantly now and it just doesn't make sense to pay for storage for sneakers I can't bring or use. Gave away a bunch, shipped to Tokyo and sold locally. I feel so much lighter and less stressed to be honest.

You should create a mini-series called "Pair Down" (a play on pare down) where you take people such as yourselves showcasing the collection, then the process of reducing the number of pairs. Could demonstrate different ways of offloading pairs (resale, giveaways, donations, etc.) in the process. You could feature viewers at some point if it was successful enough.

i agree with that statement of owning something for the value of it, kind of like an investment, or it maybe being popular in the near future. hence why i own like 50+ pairs of sneakers atm. i get worried that one day the shoe i got rid of for like 100 is gonna be worth 5x the price, makes it really hard for me to sell sneakers knowing it may be worth much more in the future. especially vintage models, knowing I'll never find another one like it

Nothin against Cudi, but Ben Baller did a KAWS collab chain and a Murakami collab chain for J Balvin 3 years ago. The art is wild. Also, don't sleep on the Nike Shox Gravity as an airport shoe. Very easy to take on and off, the lacing system is just pull to tighten, knit upper...the Metallic Gold (very first colorway) is one of my most complimented shoes
