I feed once a day unless I have something as a treat that they would like, such as fruit or a pinky. And I skip feeding one day a week to let them clear out.

We believe that gut loading insects is the best and most natural way to provide additional nutrition to your dragon. Top coating bugs is wasteful as most product falls right off of them. We also DO NOT recommend the use of "salad toppers", products that make claims to CURE diseases like MBD, Gout, and other unproven claims. One maker even described their own brand of salad topper as "fairly non toxic". Who wants to feed their beloved pet a product that is "fairly non toxic"? If you MUST use a topping for dragons, we recommend bee pollen in small amounts. Bee pollen can be bought at most grocery and health food stores.

Great video.. Here is my question. I've had my first bearded dragon for a year now.. She just went into brumation.. My questions are, should I leave her alone until she wakes up? Should I still switch her uvb and basking spot lights on in the mornings? How long do they sleep for? And what happens to them physiologically when they brumate? And what steps should I take when she wakes up? My girl is in such a deep sleep. I checked up on her just to make sure she is OK.. She did not move, it seems she is in a very deep sleep. I checked that's she's still breathing but I find it fascinating! Would love if you do a detailed video on brumation... Thanks! 👍☺️

my baby bearded isn’t eating as much and I heard mealworms hurt the digestive track is that true?? What should I do to help them eat more anything will help !! Thank you
@jodiemcjodie19744 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is true. Mealworms can be tough to digest due to their tough exoskeletons. However if you have a high enough basking spot, 110-120 for babies and 100-110 for adults they will be able to digest the food. If you dont have the right heat, your beardie will not be able to properly digest the food. I am currently feeding my baby beardie mealworms and he poops just about once a day.
@jodiemcjodie19744 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind, if your feeding your baby mealworms, make sure it is smaller than the space between his eyes. If it's too big then they can become impacted. This mainly goes for baby beardies, once their adults, they have no problem digesting much of anything.
@ColdBloodCreations4 жыл бұрын
Our baby dragons have always eaten meal worms from the first week of life. However it is important to feed the small ones. Feeding meal worms too large can be problematic. The goal is no larger than the space between their eyes.

It ate a few meal worms but usually doesn’t care about them either. It will eat salads but picks around the meal worms in it. Tried wax worms doesn’t eat them after eating one. He did eat a big hornworm. How many bugs does a small baby eat every day normally?

How much food and worms should be given to a 6 inch dragon? What about bits of squash? The pet smart sold my daughter in law a kit that contained an assortment of foods. One was a bag of dehydrated veggies and insects. Is that safe to feed even after rehydrating it? The mix has carrots and what looks like squash. I will be able to provide fresh, chemical free dandelions during the growing season. Can I cut up stuff like squash and freeze it? Nobody in either house eats that stuff. Could a mixture of veggies be ground into a paste for Abel to eat? I am looking for cost effective, less waste, while providing the best for his beardie. My grandson is 12 years old and fell in love with reptiles 2 years ago. He started doing research and after 2 years was able to convince his parents to let him have a ball python. When he met his first beardie he said he wanted one and mom got the petsmart 40 gal kit and dragon. This boy has decided to pursue a career in herpetology. I might suggest reptile veterinarian to him. They seem few and far between.

Firstly I was feeding him 5 times a day so thanks again 'cause it was a real pain in the ___. Twice a day is just fine by me. But he is a youngster, although about 8" now, so is 2 times sufficient for a juvenile? He eats very well both bugs and salad. But I have also been feeding mealworms which I now discover I shouldn't do. This is so confusing because I don't want to do anything that will harm the little sweetie.

We have our first Beardie, have had her for about 2 weeks. She's a juvenile, 9.5 inches long. We have a 40g vivarium, hides, basking light, proper tube UVB, two digital thermometers, hydrometers and a gun thermometer for her basking spot. All of the readings are within spec. She eats a few bites of salad each day and will eat about five 1/2" crickets 3 times a day. She hangs out on her basking rock, and climbs a bit on the back of her enclosure (faux rock) - take her out and she will climb up and perch on a shoulder and/or snuggle into your neck. Internet searches say she should be eating anywhere between 15 and 40 crickets. three times a day and should be running all over the place instead of wanting to snuggle. Should we be concerned that there is something wrong or is this within the range of normal? Very worried, any advice appreciated!

babies to 4mnths of age feed lots of protein 4-5 times a day small crickets/dubia roaches. They are growing & bones need protein., then as he gets bigger u can do medium crickets, never feed anything bigger than the space betewen his 2 eyes. at 7months or so he can do large criclets and dubia raoches are amazing in protein too. At 6mnths to a year u feed 3times per day (60 crickets or dubias) and 12mnths to 1.5 yrs 2 times a day 30-40 crilcets and after a year and a half once per day 20- 25 large crickets/dubias and u can add super worms at a year and a half. always also do the greens/veggies alwasy start them as babies or he will never eat them as an adult feed him a plate one hour after basking every morning and u can do a fresh one mid afternoon. Make ure u have the Reptisun 10.0 T5 for UVB and the zoomed clear basking bulb for heat. NO colored bulbs ever and no sand in the tank. Use paper towels, newspaper, or whtie teryy cloth towels as the subsrate or smooth shelf liner and place a terry cloth towrl on the cold side so they can poop on it away from food/water of course whcih should also be on the cold side.

@williamestrada31814 жыл бұрын
Their main food is crickets which they cost 14 cents each
@lisasimpson38324 жыл бұрын
If you buy in bulk it gets cheaper. Just have a cricket aquarium. They'll also breed if you feed and water them regularly (just have a dirt container kept moist in there). You can order 1000 crickets for under 30$ in the USA and that lasts awhile. And then 3-5 on veggies a week I'd say. Mine like dandelion greens a lot. I also mix cabbage, sometimes carrots, celery and intermittent fruits in there some times. You can shop smart and cut down your costs. Mine aren't big fans of the turnip, mustard or collared greens. Tried em and they mainly just sat. About once a month I offer a piece of tomato and in the summer once a week I'd offer fruit. Cut up watermelon, strawberry, kiwi, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, all kinds of different stuff. But staple for my household beardies (we have 2) is dandelion and cabbage.

I see people feeding their dragons live mice is that ok
@ColdBloodCreations4 жыл бұрын
I suppose that given the opportunity dragons would eat mice in the wild. The issue would be if the mouse bit the dragon (if the mouse was live) you could have an injured dragon. Not sure that much protein would be good for an adult dragon, unless only rarely. We do offer F.T. peach fuzzy mice to females post egg laying to put weight back on them and boost their calcium intake.
@eriklongfellow47872 жыл бұрын
You do not want to do this often. Liver issues and fatty issues are associated with high protein diets like that of mice. Our beardies eat greens all week and bug protein 3-4 times a week. Our feeders are gut loaded well and our oldest female is 480g and thats her diet.
