The late Queen loved him deeply. I think Prince Philip with the years develop affection for her. It is well known his uncle Lord Mountbatten pushed him forward towards the marriage. My Dad and Grandparents used to say he had affairs. It used to upset me as I didn't think it was nice for the Queen to discover. I don’t believe anything about the Diana thing, though. I do remember that before he got married, he stayed with a good friend who was a woman and he told her he wasn't sure he wanted to marry Princess Elizabeth, mainly because of the huge enormity of marrying an heir to the throne. Having said that, if the Queen was ok with it, then it was her choice. What else could she do? She could hardly divorce him. It was frowned on a huge amount in those days. Also, importantly, she loved him. I suspect that when he got older, his sexuality took a nosedive anyway as most men tend to.. after that, he would have settled down to being a dutiful husband well, more dutiful anyway.
