The late Queen loved him deeply. I think Prince Philip with the years develop affection for her. It is well known his uncle Lord Mountbatten pushed him forward towards the marriage. He was penniless and under the tutelage of his uncle. I don't think he fell in love with her. Nevertheless, he stood by her unconditionally, and was discreet in his escapades.

Just about every member of royal families in Britain and abroad is active in charities, it is what rich people do when they don not work in regular jobs. Meghan was never a diplomat, according to Wikipedia she "did not score high enough in the Foreign Service Officer Test to proceed further" ). She has a bachelor in theatre studies (not rocket science either....) and one in intenational studies. You need to finish university for a Master's degree, which she did not do. The internship in Buenos Aires was arranged for her with the help of her uncle. An internship certainly does not make you a representative ! More like a student.

Prince Philip must have loved going on royal tours alone, when he was not smothered by royal supervision. When he visited to Australia in 1956, all the men who travelled with the Prince or worked on projects he visited... were sworn to secrecy; they were never to reveal the consorts who met the Prince. My Dad and Grandparents used to say he had affairs. It used to upset me as I didn't think it was nice for the Queen to discover. I don’t believe anything about the Diana thing, though. I do remember that before he got married, he stayed with a good friend who was a woman and he told her he wasn't sure he wanted to marry Princess Elizabeth, mainly because of the huge enormity of marrying an heir to the throne. Having said that, if the Queen was ok with it, then it was her choice. What else could she do? She could hardly divorce him. It was frowned on a huge amount in those days. Also, importantly, she loved him. I suspect that when he got older, his sexuality took a nosedive anyway as most men tend to.. after that, he would have settled down to being a dutiful husband well, more dutiful anyway.
