They made millions of them and the majority of the V-12 saw service as industrial/stationary equipment (gen sets and pumps),followed by heavy equipment, marine, and then trucks. While the majority of trucks with 12v71’s have gone to the truck heaven there are still there are plenty of stationary engines that are still in service. The biggest problem with buying a stationary engine is all the truck only parts that often are specific to the make and model truck application.

Nice V12 haul, glad to see you received the Spicer manuals, I used to have manuals for just about every make and model truck differential and transmission. Good idea Wayne on stockpiling these 12s esp the ones that came out of trucks. I've been looking for a stamped steel oil pan and 15.5" flywheel for a while now and no luck so far. Thankfully I was able to find some dogbone heads and upgraded the coolant system to 92 series parts. Mounted the turbos right on top of each blower and modified some 6v92 exhaust manifolds to make it fit in Peterbilt 359exhd frame. Best of luck on your projects.

Kudos to you for keeping them going. used to be a common sound on the roads.

Yeah Wayne , Euclid Tc12 had two 671s in 1954 was most powerful dozer in the world . The 82-80 continued with that arrangement . Then they redesigned the whole thing with one engine a 12v71 and called it the 82-50 a 50 ton machine to compete with Cat’s D9 In the last days of Terex and ownership changes it was called the D800 Terex . Wayne, I'm glad you're going around doing the right thing and saving these big iron turds from the crusher or the mice or whathaveyou. Sure there's millions around, but they said the same thing about steam locomotives: there were millions until there weren't. There's a weird twilight with old iron where it's not useful anymore but it doesn't yet have mainstream appeal as an antique yet, and thus goes into the actual junk pile. Cheers to you and all the other stubborn fucks who refuse to let these things rot away.

Dollys of any kind typically do better if you have a set that swivels on one end or the other preferably the front casters swivel. The back two should be locked into straight forward or backwards. This gives you leverage to go one direction at time, and is definitely better than heavy load you're trying to keep it from crab walking. Add a couple gussets to each leg you have from top of the caster, to a couple inches on main frame work to keep them from floding up from carrying the weight of cast iron blocks assembled. Which is a considerable amount of weight you're trusting that thin wall tuning with, especially but welded together like it is. Lose one, and it turns over in thst direction, and if it does happen. Do not think that you are King Kong, and try to catch it, because at best you'll do is add additional weight of your ass landing on top of it. If you make extensions to go into the front caster tubing, and then you can make yourself a radiator support to allow you to run one in place. I'm not speaking about using a full size radiator correct for the engines mounted onto the frame of the truck either Something more suited to an old 6 cylinder tractor tall and narrow side to side the same width as your frame is. You're not going to be doggin on it, as tourqe possible could be very bad thing in a setup like that You can check for any and all leaks tune it to bais level, adjust the rack and such as that. You might also build a box for couple batteries, and add a push bar on the back that you can mount full set of gauges main power shut off, a push button starter there as well.
