Honestly I think it's fair to look up the spelling of some of these, especially if they are not in English considering this site usually want very specific spellings

Well done! Speaking if ancient cities, you should have tried Palmyra in Syria (where I once visited right after a sand storm and spoke to a lone Japanese tourist who spoke maybe 10 words of English). In Turkey I would have got some more touristy places, given I was a tourist there, like Pamukkale, Marmaris, Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Göreme (in Kapadokya, crazy place). In Israel you might have been thinking of Qiryat Shemona in the north, I’ve not been there, but been to Qatzrin in the Golan Heights and Safed, a city known for Jewish theology. Dimona is famous for its nuclear weapons facility (took me hours to hitch a ride there) and Ein Gedi is a nice place by the Dead Sea. In Oman I recommend Al Hamra, in the mountains, and also there, a small town, Misfat al Abriyyin, whose name I’d easily forget but remember it as the Misfit of Aberdeen.

In Georgia the city Gori is the birthplace of Stalin so a semi well known place, Also I believe Lusail was built after the database for this website was finalised. Edit: Jabalya, Yazd, Hofuf, Tabuk, Hail, Abha and Najran were some of the others I noticed were absent, mostly down to my recent studies on KSA cities

Great as always! Although for small countries, at least in my case, I prefer the city dot diameter to be as small as possible. Maybe it would help you too, as looking at the country shape helps me remember of more places!

Just so you know, "al wusta" and "al shamal" both denote geographical position (the central and the north, respectively), so they're highly unlikely to be considered city names.

You're insane. What's your method for studying cities? Personally, I mainly just stare at Google Maps a lot. I've got an ongoing game that I keep adding to whenever I remember something or learn something new, right now I'm at 1955 cities worldwide, 515 of which in Germany. You're close to that already and so far you've only done two continents

There are those times where I'm really at the mercy of the database. There are places like Shahr-e Qods / Qods (this one's a Tehran suburb and not the one Jake typed) and Eslamabad-e Gharb that I can't input for some reason EDIT: Pro tip: The consonant of al- only changes if the next consonant is a "sun letter" - the word for sun in Arabic is "ash-shams", while moon is "al-qamar". Hence letters that aren't sun letters are "moon letters"

Being denied by fiddly spelling feels like robbery. I wouldn't mind if you went back to check some of those and filled them in at the start of the next episode, obviously not touching stuff you forgot or didn't know.
