EXCELLENT message!! Last year, my husband of 20 years was killed by a train. I had to close our business and return 60 motorcycles to customers. And there was much more to deal with. I have a 14 year old daughter and didnt even consider caving in! I bought a small house for us 1 mile from her school. Her school was amazing about helping me and her keep a sense of normalcy. She went back to school 3 weeks after her father was tragically killed. She is so strong because she sees me strong We both have our moments, but we are still alive and deserve to be happy! Thank you! I can’t wait to share your perfect message! ❤️

Carol, I am so sorry you and your daughter had to go through that loss. I know you don't really get over losses like that. I believe you adjust to a new reality. We had a son pass 2 1/2 years ago after a long illness. Sounds like you are doing well. I invite you to invite God in if you haven't already. That will make a difference too.

Our 4ddiction to safety and security, makes us anxious and powerless - we have to be ok with and tackle the present moment, so that we can get the desired results in the furure
@juliakristinamah4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Full control doesn't make us feel more safe - the acceptance that we have very little of it does.
@medpsychhealth48704 жыл бұрын
Control is a myth . None of us have full control over our lives. You are correct that we are obsessed with safety and security, frequently to the point of paralysis. Anxiety feeds on our inordinate desire for control and our obsession with preventing anything bad from happening to ourselves or loved ones.

We must accept what is - all else is suffering.
@debt.10014 жыл бұрын
I really do understand the concept of acceptance and being adaptable to whatever situation arises and that being ridged and inflexible causes suffering. I flow, adapt and accept in my business all the time and am much better at this now in my personal life. However, I am so confused at what to do when you truly believe that there is a bigger, negative, agenda behind the changes that we are being forced to make. I mean, do we just stand by passively and follow rules that literally make no sense, or do we stand firm in our beliefs and speak out in the face of adversity? I get that you shouldn’t ‘fight’ against something you think is wrong as you are aligning with that low vibration but surely if we all just comply and do nothing and allow ourselves to be controlled by others who very well may not have our best interests at heart, then our physical lives will not be our own. Our liberty will be gone and we will have started to travel down a path of no control and powerlessness where humanity may suffer. Help, I am really struggling right now and feel completely lost. 🙏💕🌈

Adaptability to change: 1. Willingness to Learning how to do things in a different way 2. Not being afraid of failure and seeing situations as either getting the outcome you want or the lesson you need. 3. Being creative and trusting that you will come up with solutions to problems where you are doing fine because you've done it before. 4. Get curious - instead of rejecting things, ask questions. 5. Intentionally take a step back and look at the big picture. Not reacting in the moment but asses what's going on to make a mindful decision after thinking things through. 6. Working with a situation instead of against it. What can I do with this? How can I make this work for me?

Thanks you so much for your videos, Julia! I have been a subscriber for many months now, but your help is more needed than ever in these troubled times. While I do think of myself as an adaptable person, this crisis has shown me that I'm too SLOW in adapting to these things. I had been weathering this storm pretty well, but these last 48 hours or so I feel like I've gone into meltdown mode. No particular trigger, just the sum of everything catching up to me I guess. I will continue to put into practice your suggestions in this video and others as I try to find my way though our turbulent new reality.

Dear Julia, When I listen to you through this video, I feel like you're talking about me lol because I consider myself as a creative and curious person who tends to look at the big picture much more than the details. Also, if you remember my comment I posted (2 weeks ago) below your video called "How to Stay Calm During the Coronavirus Crisis", I mentioned that the keywords for me when getting through a crisis were calm, patience and ADAPTATION ;)

Great topic!! Related book I just read: Antifragile by Nassim Taleb. Antifragile systems or people benefit from volatility. He's a stock trader, but he goes a little bit into emotional antifragility as well: accepting emotions as they are. Adaptability and antifragility are closely related, but intellectual and emotional adaptability is also related to neuroplasticity and cognitive flexibility. What I'm saying is, becoming adaptable will not only get you through a pandemic, it will also prevent all kinds of degeneration later and make life much more fun! Great topic and great methods to get started!!

I guess the pattern that keeps repeating in my life is relying on unreliable people, mostly family. Family members continually sabotage or take advantage of my gifts or accomplishments. I keep ending up in extreme dire straits becoming homeless and financially broke because of it. I am self disciplined, live a healthy and fit lifestyle, and practice daily meditation but I somehow feel obligated to tolerate others who are not as "evolved" as me. I feel guilty for my blessings and feel obligated to give all my things to others because of my ability to find gratitude and joy. Is that spiritual brainwashing? I always try to choose gratitude and love but I am finding that others resent that approach and intentionally try to undermine my efforts or even try to do me harm. Perhaps I should just stop sharing my life.

Hi julia i was just watching your video on how to stop a negative thought/thoughts so can you let me know if this sounds familiar to you or just maybe makes any sense. So i was using your technique of saying stop! to a negative thought....Then I had got to the point where saying “stop” was working for me, until one day i had a negative thought and i said “stop” but it wasn’t really the thought that was bothering me, it was another thought saying “what if you can’t stop thinking about that negative thought you just had”, so i learned to say STOP to both of the thoughts, since they are both negative! Does this sound like a negative thought about another negative thought, i’d like your input on this. Thank you!

not really clear what adaptability means in this situation - in the example of a scenario like the onset of covid, people adapted to the changing circumstances by hoarding household materials. In this case, is the adaptable person making the right choice by « going against the tide » by observing and making decision for themselves?
