Michael stipe also helped Thom Yorke A LOT during his depression following OkComputer. The song "how to disappear completely..." On the following album KidA is written from the memory of Thom struggling with so many interviews and gigs and Michael taught him to just breath and imagine he is not here and this is not happening.... Looks like Michael Stipe is a real soul sheperd

I know Kurt had been talking to Stipe and Corgan about doing Ledbelly covers and that style of music just before he died and was really excited about making that change. Scared, obv, but excited. He'd also been in touch with Mark Lanegan about doing collaborative stuff with him. Pity Lanegan never answered those last calls Kurt had been making to him. Lanegan never forgave himself for that because it was mere days before Kurt's death he'd ignored his last call. Would've been epic to hear what they would've done if Cobain's passing never happened and their collabs came into fruition.

Everyone uses for diff reasons.why u getting all defensive? I believe doctors weren't giving him enough. They see an addict coming and we better forget getting treated like a human. It's very sad that med professionals always think we're drug seeking. In my opinion its MUCH MUCH easier to drug seek on the streets than it is in a doc office or hospital. I've actually never done it and I've been addicted to something for 25 years, all various substances. So just calm down Veronica. Please. I don't want any drama.

I thought “About a Girl” was inspired by the Beatles.. I’ve heard a number of times that Kurt listened to the Beatles all day long(for a long time) I think it was mainly “With the Beatles” and then he came up wit “About a Girl” you can tell the huge influence of the Beatles on the song..

@@daniellewatson8352 the Beatles song that always comes to mind when I listen to About a Girl is “I should’ve Know Better” it has the same kind of chord going from one chord to another .. About a Girl from E(well Kurt played an Em technically since he fingered it different from others) it goes from E to G and I should’ve know better goes from D to G and back and forth the same way .. and the solo in the middle of the song has that same feeling too .. well for me personally Nirvana and The Beatles are my 2 favorite bands of all time so I love the similarities 😂

From my understanding this 'low energy' period always comes naturally as part of wave...the 'high energy' is where all the new creative energy comes through. Sensitive humans, particularly the supercreatives, aren't built to be 'on' or in genius mode all the time. The brain interprets this low energy or lack of creativity as a problem to be fixed, and looks to replicate the high energy with drugs and distractions.

@Danielle Watson No doubt about it very tough position to be in. The problem was they started taking advice from people who didn't care about him and only looked at him as a way to make money like that fraud Bob Timmons who charges 80k for a intervention he knows won't work then he goes and tells people Kurt's personal business he did the same thing to Layne Stanley. Even Courtney said I wish I had let him be and do his thing until he decided to stop instead of throwing him out of the house and forcing him into rehab because it backfired. They should of had he committed to a mental hospital after he tried killing himself in Rome. Instead, they covered it up. Even his best friend didn't know it was a suicide attempt. But hindsight is always 20/20.as they say!!

I like your video but can you please do 2pac and Kurt Cobain how they influence and impact the 90’s because for 2pac is that his music earned attention and respect through a poetic style that embraced street vocabulary while being innovative For Kurt is that addressing social issues not only through his music, but also in interviews. Racism and sexism were brought up by the band and considering that it was the 90’s it was a big deal to speak out about social issues such as that.

Kurt was an undiagnosed Asperger. Everything about him feeling like an alien, not fitting in with his peers the bullying he endured, the periods of isolation to recharge, the drugs to mask the pain of trying to fit in every single day as its hard work to be thinking of normal rules of behaviour with everything coming at you in your head during say a photoshoot to smile or not to smile as it doesnt feel authentic and aspies want to be all the time. Resting bitch face is a thing yet you feel happy inside. Even his stomach pain fits. When burnout hits its a very dark place indeed but im not convinced he took his own life the facts dont stack up but being very trusting of friends can be a problem and he wasnt alone in that house with a car with slashed tires and too much heroin in him to pack up his kit neatly then fire a gun. @@ArnieJames666 that makes sense. Apparently Hendrix who was also a lefty had to string right handed guitars upside down because it was even harder to find them back in the sixties. @@SkywalkerSamadhi definitely true, I don't know about the tone part but I do know that being left handed was considered a form of mild retardation back in day and was frowned upon by doctors, teachers, etc. Back in those days left handed guitars were very rare, I think fender started making them in the 60's but in very limited numbers and they were most likely more expensive.

@@SkywalkerSamadhi No. Pickups don't work that way. The only difference is that on a strat the bridge pickup is offset toward the bridge on the treble side. The bass strings would have a little more treble tone, which would be good for a distorted sound. So you're kinda right.

@@ArnieJames666 True. I was born left handed, but in the 1970s the public school system in the US forced me to write and use scissors with my right hand. It's called forced handedness. Then they wondered why I got bad grades in handwriting class. The whole thing has my brain messed up decades later. It's like I don't ever know which hand to use. It feels like I'm doing everything backwards. It's preposterous that they thought they could make me right handed instead of simply accepting me. That being said, I went to the Monster tour show when it came to Detroit. As I went to school (I was in 3rd grade) the following day, at the high school across the street on a picnic bench sat Michael Stipe talking with a class - I wouldn’t have said it if he weren’t wearing what he wore on stage! My friends and I started chanting his name, and then the whole playground eventually joined in. It took time, but he did come over and signed my notebook with my pencil lol. It wasn’t until I saw a pic of his autograph (once the internet became a thing) that I knew it had to be real, because it wasn’t written in cursive as his signature is!

You went to a concert in 3rd grade? A 3rd grade that was across the street from a high school that Michael Stipe went and hung out at the day after their concert? In the same clothes as the night before, no less. You must of gone to an advanced elementary school if a bunch of it’s students knew who REM was and for Stipe to come over and sign autographs for a bunch of 10 year olds.

@@SkywalkerSamadhi I think it actually was 4th grade now that I think about it, but my first concert my parents took me to - fall of 92, Grateful Dead - and the first concert I took them to was Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms & Cracker, which was either fall of 93 or spring of 94. The school across the street used to be housing for teachers during the Baby Boom of the 40s, but had been repurposed into an alternative high school. I’ll scan a copy of the autograph if I find time
