Oh definitely. I can see him playing for 3-4 years yet. The way their offense is set up they don't need to go 40+ yard passes. The only fast receivers they have are Ginn and Taysom, and Taysom isn't really a receiver. Well he kind of is, just like he's kind of a QB, tight end, professor, butcher, day care social worker, etc. So it's not like they need someone to throw the ball that far. Plus, he was on an MVP season last year before he slowed down near the end and Mahomes took over. Hopefully he has three years left in him then Taysom can take over. Saints would be great with a dual-threat QB and Teddy isn't it. Teddy is a pocket passer. Taysom can throw and run like he has the cops after him

Auston - Umm... lol.. He's averaging 2.3 TD's per game. Lamar Jackson is averaging 2.2. He's averaging 272 yards per game. Which is 9th highest in nfl for QBs. He's rated #1 in passer rating in the NFL with 115.3. He's leading the league in completion percentage with 75.8%, which is better than the record he set last year. Though to be fair, he's only played 9 games so having a completion percentage that high with 9 games is really good, but not outstanding. Pretty sure he's going to win comeback player of the year. If Titans make the playoffs then Tannahill will probably get it. If not then Brees definitely will. He scored 9 TDs in the last two games, 5 against the Niners who were #1 overall defense and #1 overall passing defense at the time. They are #2 overall defense now. As for being underrated, nobody mentions him in the top 5 QB's yet in my humble opinion he's top 3 all time. People always want to judge running backs and receivers on individual stats, but with QB's it's about wins and superbowls. Which I never understood. QB's don't win superbowls. Teams win superbowls. In terms of individual stats Brees blows everyone out of the water. Here is just a short list. This is the best take I’ve ever seen for Michael Thomas. It’s about time somebody gives him the respect he needs. I’m a Saints fan so I watch him every week and 100% agree he makes their team go from a negative record team to a 2-4 loss season team just because he is special but his connection with his quarterbacks. No.1 and ONLY reason Michael Thomas doesn't get proper credit is the same as why most of the talking heads continue to diminish Brees' place in history: They play for the Saints. If those guys played for the Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, Bears, Giants, Patriots, you name it, they'd have been hailed as legends long before they even deserved it. 11:25 - Brees/Saints would make it work. You have to remember, before Michael Thomas Brees/Saints have never had a pro-bowl wide receiver. Ever. So Brees' multiple 5k yard seasons (3 consecutive 5 total, no other QB has more than 1 5k yard season. Not just one consecutive, but one total) was done with tight ends and no name receivers. Thomas is amazing, best WR in the league. But if he got injured Brees would still find targets. They just wouldn't be as dominate as they are now

The thing that makes Brees so incredible is the fact that most of his throws are made blinded. The man can't see over his O-lineman. He built his entire career off of timing and muscle memory. That one throw just exemplifies what he pretty much does every play.

The only thing with Thomas is that the average depth of passes is typically less than 10 yards. I want to see him run different routes before calling him the best receiver. It's rare to see him run 20+ yard routes. Obviously, these short passes and slants are working so Payton will keep utilizing it.

I'm a huge Saints fan, and for the life of me, I don't know how Michael Thomas keeps doing it. He's our only receiver. Teams come in knowing he's our only viable target. They plan to double him, or triple him, it still doesn't matter. And it's not like he's fast either. I'm used to speed being the most deadly aspect of a WR, but Thomas is not fast in the least, and they still can't cover him. It's insane. I don't know how many games I've watched when it's like 3rd and long, everyone in the world knows what we are going to do, and still Thomas gets open. How does that happen? I dunno....but he just seems to always get open. And those rare times when they are on him so tight it looks like they are glued to him, he makes the contested catch anyway. I can understand the physicality in tight coverage, he just out muscles you for the ball. But the many, many times he's just wide friggin open can only be explained by the fact that Michael Thomas reads a defense as well as any top tier QB. He reads your coverage, he sees thru any disguises you are trying to use, and he knows the weakness and holes in any kind of coverage that you are going to use on him. It's like the DB's are all physically gifted high school dropouts, and Thomas has a PhD in football. He's just way smarter than you, that's why You Can't Guard Mike.

I feel like I'm replying to every post on this video, but I love my Saints and love my Thomas/Brees duo and love having these conversations. Jared Cook is becoming quite the beast as well. If he keeps going that would be a great trio threat for teams. Anyway, back to the point of my comment. If Saints get #1 seed they will make it to the SB. Of that, I am certain. Not sure if they will win, but they will definitely make it. Last year they were dominate on offense 80% of the season then started slacking and choking at the end of the season. So when they made it to the playoffs they weren't really at their peak. This year was the complete opposite. Their offense was very inconsistent for 3/4 of the season. They just weren't clicking. Instead, they were going through intermittent bursts of dominating, then slacking, then dominating, then slacking.. If they play the playoffs like they have the last two games, and if they have top seed no team will beat them. I actually predicted Niners to beat Saints by 10 or more points because I didn't think Saints could remain consistent all game and win. And even though Niners won, I didn't really see it as a Saints lost. They far exceeded my expectations. Whoever had the ball last was going to win that game. You could just tell. Saints Defense is actually better this year than last year as well, except maybe their secondary, and they have Jared Cook and last year they didn't have any tight ends. I can definitely see them making it all the way this year, and if they get top seed I'm sure they will. If they get 2nd seed I think they have a better chance than not. It seems last 3 years have been building up to this. Minneapolis miracle was rough, but even if they won I don't think they would have beaten Eagles. That was the Eagles year. Last year they made it a game further than the previous year and should have been in SB but refs screwed them. This year it's the superbowl. Damn, long post. My arm hurts

As a Saints fan for many years the thing that impresses me the most about the Brees Thomas connection since he was drafted is the entire defense knows it's going to Thomas and yet, they still cant seem to slow him down.
