Many people have been saying I'm a journalist lately, and thank you for the positive comments. I actually don't look at myself as a journalist, I'm somewhere in between a travel vlogger and a journalist. These videos are just a byproduct of my curiosity about the world and different people's perspectives. I used to get into all sorts of situations without a camera, and then I started making KZbin videos and realized other people are curious about these stories too. I'm honored to be able to create a living out of this so thank you to all who watch my videos. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong, but I strive in every video for authenticity and truth (which is often a moving target, especially in complex situations). I got sick of seeing what the world looked like through the mainstream media, I'm guessing many of you are too, so here's an alternative. This isn't a replacement for journalism, the world does need more good investigative journalists going in deep on stories like this one. But where are they for this story about the border?! And I'm not talking biased trigger bait. It's arguably the biggest story in the country right now but we're hearing almost nothing about it. There's North Korean-style secrecy to massive processing facilities that are growing exponentially, journalists not allowed inside of them. That in itself is insane, we're in the USA, right? So that's why I decided to do this series. My channel is another angle in and usually done in a more personal style with the aim of connecting with people on the ground in the places I go, to bring you closer to what it feels like without going there. Thanks again to all of you who support me 🙌. This is part 2 of a 6-part series and the other episodes can be seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qICcZWNpo7mHgas

The people who fall for it are what Dickens called "telescopic philanthropists." They are shielded in enclaves surrounded by walls. Think Nancy Pisslosi, for example, with her $30K fridge filled with ice cream she thinks is fancy (give me clean Straus Family Creamery ice cream over fake and junk-filled Hagen-Dazs any day--the far Left are all style over substance and they only skim the surface of thought). Nancy's mansion is behind a wall. Mad Maxine Waters lives in a mansion OUTSIDE her district. Do you understand? It's rules and whatnot for thee but not for me. They and celebrities and sports figures are safe from harm. No effect on them, and they get to buy the vote. Yes, the ILLEGAL vote, which I've seen with my own eyes and which the SEIU facilitates ALL THE TIME. So does Jorge Ramos. While I was a session editor at the Capitol in Austin from Dec. 2016 thru May 2017, I overhears the same gossip in two places: at a bodega in the Montopolis slum where I had to live and in the bathroom near the cafeteria in the Capitol building. Univision was registering illegals to vote under the "civic" branch of the corporation. I gave all the info to the TX AG Ken Paxton, and he got on the case. Then Univision changed the name of this fake civic arm (from Contigo to I forget what), and I made sure the DA had that info, too. Bravo, Texas! ~Juli Barbato

When I lived in Tucson, circa 2009, a young Mex-American girl, Brenda, was murdered by carjackers who were illegal. Guess where the first and only place she wore her quinceañera dress was? That's right; her coffin. And guess what the kids from her high school demonstrated in Phoenix over not long after her murder? They picketed in support of ILLEGALS. That. Is. Sickening. It's a kind of ethnocentric separatism that is appalling in every regard. Surface over substance. Ego over empathy. Inherent lawlessness.

@The T.I. Experience The majority don't just receive money from the government. If you do it's mostly because of casinos. Even then it goes through tribal leadership first and then to the people. Which unfortunately a lot of those leaders are corrupt. It's another form of government, go figure. They line their pockets and their families first. Also the leasing of tribal land to whitey/cracker ass honkies(LOL) to coat their pockets. It's quite sad. You have to live on reservations to receive these so-called benefits in most cases. You ever been on one? Not the best places to reside. The jobs are sparse and opportunity is surely lacking. Dodging Rez Dogs just to walk to a neighbor? No thanks! It's quite a dangerous everyday occurrence. Enter at your own risk.

I appreciate this series very much, as with all your other videos, Peter. I always thought the actual situation on the ground at the border was more like what you've shown, but it's so good you're getting it out there to provide way more context and food for thought. Of course, it's a very long border and this is just one section, but the series is very comprehensive as a snapshot. In this day and age immigration and asylum are terrifically complicated, and it's such a vast area. I hope at one point we will find solutions to manage it way better for everyone involved. Merci à Raul and the Cajun Navy for showing you around, and for all the good work they do every day. They are such an amazing group. As Mark Twain said, "Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." We need to hear straight from the people who live where you provide content, about how they live and what they think of the world. You do this so well by just letting them speak for themselves without interrupting and interpreting and by being such a respectful, realistic, and compassionate guy. Thank you for traveling for us. Stay safe and take care.

I moved to the US from Poland in 1989, it took 3 years to get all the paperwork and permission to get into the US. In 1997 i became a US citizen and i am against illegal immigration, because it's truly not fair to people that do everything legally and follow the law. But people like in your case deserve to receive your papers quickly and that does bother me, your papers should take no longer than 2 months, you helped the US military which could have cost you and your families lives, so i do agree with you that it's not fair what the US is doing in your case and we talk about that sometimes with my American friends who are all Trump supporters including me and we also agree that every person that helped the US military should be brought to the US now. But i will never support illegal immigration, every country has borders and laws and it should be respected, the problem is a lot of the illegal migrants bring drugs or have criminal records that's why they try to get in illegally because they know that they will never get permission to enter legally and they should be stopped. There is also good people trying to enter and it always makes me wonder why do they go the illegal way of doing things instead of the legal way, if they have no criminal record, entering illegally and getting caught might cost them a chance to enter the US at all later on because they will have a record of trying to get in illegally, so next time they go the legal route they will be refused entery because they will have a record of entering illegally. But you sir should have been here already and to tell you the truth if i helped some other countries military and they made me wait that long to enter their country i would be mad as hell and you have every right to be mad. I really hope everything works out for you and you and your family make it in to the US as soon as possible.

i'm from mexico and i live far from the border and i'm just a curious guy trying to see videos on youtube about the border between my country and EU. Maybe a lot of people from EU think we are desagree with you guys when we talk about the inmigrant but even here in México the majority of the people we are desagree with the situation and the inmigrant because the problem it's not only for you, we have tons of people from centalr america and south america coming here without money with literally nothing and the people can't cross the border they just living in the streets of the México border citys. Honestly, i don't have the neccesity to go there to get a better life because i feel i have a good life here and i'm just a normal guy with a job, playing video games, hitting the gym when i can and i'm good here. Many people from EU think all the mexican we are always thinkin how can cross the border or something like that but it's not true and in my case i don't need to go there and live the "american dream" because i'm not a poor guy (talking about money) even there in USA and i'm not saying i'm a rich guy but i have all i need and that's enough for me. I understand the situation and majority of that people they have a big problem where they from but that dosen't mean you can cross the border ilegally and all countrys have the right to protect their own borders. I personally know four families that came to the US to request asylum at the port of entry aka "the right way". The events took place in 2019-2021. They were flying in from one of the former USSR countries to Monterrey, MX via Mexico City, MX then they took a bus to Nuevo Laredo, MX, used the pedestrian bridge to present themselves to the customs. Did not have to pay a dime to anyone, did not even consider to cross illegally because WHY??? All of them have been released to the US within 10-20 days after crossing, and now awaiting to present their asylum cases in front of the immigration judge. The backlogs are terrible indeed (5-12 years). They all have proper paperwork for the time being, i.e. SSN, work permit. I have NO idea why would anyone pay to cartel to cross illegally, just to turn themselves in.

The problem is the legal way can take up to 6+ years…. Most people would not wait that long. Most people who cross illegally will stay in the US because the process of getting back is expensive and dangerous. If they can find a legal way to speed up the process that might help. Just a thought 🤷‍♂️

I wish he would go back now and interview these two. This is a year old. I cried when he told the story about his dad being a veteran and being denied food stamps. I had a similar thing happen to me years ago. I ate top ramen for years. I will never forget standing behind a lady in the grocery store. She was on her cell phone speaking spanish. She had a couple kids and a cart full. In that cart she had crab legs, 2 lobsters, all kinds of steaks and who knows what else. Her clothes were very nice, hands and nails well manicured . She paid with a food stamp card. I had ramen. I was back in the parking lot within minutes. And there she had a very nice suv. Now, I would have been impressed with her. I certainly didn't envy her. What angered me is I worked since I was 14. I bought my house. My business fell through after many years. It was very hard to ask for help. I did. I'm denied. She was using a card that should not have ever been in her hands. Now, the reason I say I didn't envy her, is because she, like many more, is lying to someone to take the food away from someone who really needed help. It wasn't me that I was thinking of... it was one of a million homeless vets that have no food. She can do that and not give a damn about it. Our country is much worse now. It breaks my heart. We must do better.

@@GAMING503sv , so the United States once belonged to El Salvador? I believe people like you, with so much hate in your heart over things you did not live, are a minority. Most people just want the same things. Make your country great. Why come to a country and over burden it's resources so that none, including you, can survive? The white people have not been perfect , but you can't find and group of people who have a perfect past. Just as you can't find any land that has not been fought over. There are many great things to come out of every race and every culture. Sadly, at a time when every nation is being faced with evil from our governments on to places we have never dreamed about, this is the time we should stand together. Instead, we can't seem to unite because the push to divide is everywhere. Everyone knows, if they, and people like you, want to divide people...then we as humanity can not stand strong against evil. People like the one u described paying with food stamps exists all over the world. People who abuse the "system" to recieve help, and being lazy will never end in the lower scale! Also people who abuse the system to gain more power and money in a larger scale will also never end. But take a serious insight on both situation. I do believe both are wrong because as you mentioned, someone else who is more "needed" could be helped. Now, criticism and negative thoughts are granted to both examples. But on the side of food stamps i do believe if you get caught lieying you could face fine and jail time. Now the the larger scale talking on politicians, ceos, high end entrepeneurs, presidents, etc. If an abuse of the system is committed you rarely get jail time. Althought the "crime" or wrongdoing is much worse at the "large" scale, punishments is much lesser compared to the food stamp abuse. Examples. 1. 2008 finacial crisis, 2. Lies of George Bush to invade Iraq. 3. Trumps taking top secret documents from the white house. 4. DEA/us government sending thousands of high end firearms to mexico, to so-called track cartels.ETC. In all these 4 examples are all examples of high end money and power, in all 4 examples only in the 2008 were arrests and fines set. But this top scale abuse of the system will also never end! Nor Bush, Trump or Dea/ Government officials were processed/fined for their CRIMES! You have to realize that the world is difficult, but one must always give our best. I can assure u tha the USA is not "worse now", many illegals and citizen currently living in the usa, daily give their 120% effort to make the usa a better place, each and everyday. Mexican myself currently living in Tlapa de Comonfort Guerrero Mexico, I can assure to you, many people arround the world would love to be in your "place". I used to live in McAllen and work at a major company plant in Reynosa... Crossing the border everyday. I quit after 10 months, it was brutal coming home everyday. Once you cross the bridge....you feel you're in a different country for sure. Had many coworkers pulled over by corrupt police that extorted them for money... generally they were happy with a $20-$50 pay off from the driver. It was dangerous years ago when I worked there 15 yrs ago but now I wouldn't do it, no way. Too much cartel.....I was afraid I would be stopped and forced to carry drugs or people across or kidnapped for ransome. Our company parking lot and whole campus had a lot of guards. I didn't feel that unsafe at the time and I was married, but often drove to work alone. My husband worked at the same company but he quit sooner than me. It's crazy the pay difference between the American and Mexican office employees....I did payroll for the US and international employees but I didn't know that our Mexican office employees in our same departments that were doing the same jobs were paid like a third or less of our US salary....and I wasn't paid much salary to begin with....sad.

Thank you, Peter, for your curiosity (which I believe to be a trait associated with intelligence) and courage and also the kindness and compassion towards the people you meet. I too am fed up with MSM and really appreciate your unbiased approach to exploration and discovery. I only stumbled upon your videos in the last month and just realized that this video is from 2 years ago!! I think the border debacle has doubled or tripled since then! It's too bad that you can't film a day in the life of Biden and ask him a bunch of questions! Have fun and stay safe wherever your journey takes us!

@@invisiblespeedrc I think he's just letting people talk and the viewpoint in that area skews conservative. I would be shocked to find out that Peter has a right-wing bias based on his back catalogue and just by the fact that finding a conservative in an expat community in most countries is as rare as finding a unicorn. Many conservatives see no value in gaining perspective by spending extended periods of time in countries where English isn't spoken natively.

@@DMWBN3 yes. What I've heard is that you pay for the entire journey. Most of the migrants coming from Mexico into the US are from central Mexico. Payment included travel from central Mexico and a guide across the border.

Every time I see videos of this kind, I' m so glad that I'm American citizen. That's exactly why my aunts came over from Germany and went through Ellis Island, speaking no English, to make a better life, and did. My Father's family from England, further generations back, for the same reason. My father, working and starting his own jewelry business and fixing watches. This after many years working for the railroad, saved money to do this. Now, as his daughter acquiring a Degree in Business, to go into IT career. Because America is the land of the free and opportunity, just don't abuse it, that's called respect. God bless America. 😊😊
