In 2020, Betts had a whole series of spectacular defensive plays, and in the World Series, he doubled to advance the tying run into scoring position scored and scored the go-ahead run, before hitting an insurance home run in the clinching game. IDK who thought he didn't stand out.

I don’t care how great a player’s abilities are because if he can’t perform during the playoffs, he is no good to me. No HoF either. I hope Kershaw will get a chance to finally redeem himself next year. Tom Brady’s numbers might not be good during the playoffs, but he can put up TDs when it mattered. That makes him one of the best athletes ever.

@@Paul_Sleeping Most of Mookie's overall post-season hitting stats aren't bad, even if they aren't great. He has, however, scored 76 runs in 74 career post-season games, which says something about his overall abilities. And his defense has always been stellar.

For 74 games and 339 plate appearances, his .259 has about a 1/10 chance of happening for someone with a true average (their performance over a long period) of .300. And that's not even accounting for the increased difficulty of pitching in the postseason! When we do that, we see his performance decrease doesn't mean ANYTHING! The way statistics works is that you absolutely cannot determine something from a small sample size. It does not mean it's inexcusable but it makes it less bad, you CANNOT DETERMINE ANYTHING AT ALL from a small sample size!
