Embiid was always fool’s gold to me. He just doesn’t seem to have enough ‘juice’ to get it done as your lead superstar. He’s way too reliant on free throws, and crumbles under pressure easily. He’s fragile physically and mentally. He can put up numbers but not when it matters, or in a way that translates to improving his teammates and raises the team ceiling. Adding PG only added expectations. PG is another dude who is fool’s gold. Dude isn’t gonna win a ring ever imo. And he also has plenty of mental/physical hurdles that make him an unreliable 2. He’s just a selfish player plain and simple. He’s clearly focused on his own personal accolades rather than focusing on a team goal and it was evident the year Jokic won his second MVP and solidified when Embiid finally won because he completely was a non factor in playoff games after, in which he’s the first to blame whichever coach or teammate is on the hot seat at the time. He flops all over the floor and misses extended periods of time now to not play in back to backs, which no matter what you think of his game the record shows the Sixers are better with than without him. It’s bittersweet cause he is a superstar but deep down you know he’s never going to win a ring as the leader because that’s not who he is
@NunbutvibesantАй бұрын
I’m a 76ers fan and I agree with Maxey on this one. Embiid might be the “Man” in Philly due to being the face of the team but he doesn’t have any leader qualities. For example when they had Harden on the team and Joel came out and said “Him and James need help” when Maxey was balling out all playoffs and the players who underperformed were Embiid and Harden. I honestly don’t see the 76ers winning a championship if Joel doesn’t jump into the leader role as well as stay healthy.

He cries for awards. He never in shape at all which leads to some of the injuries his fanboys in the media love to use as an excuse. He throws his teammates under the bus and lastly but more importantly he stinks it up in the playoffs. He is everything we think of guys like ad kat and kawhi etc are but these dudes have made it farther in the playoffs than him which is ironic since he plays in the east and has the better teams. He is also not the modern day shaq that title goes to giannis

I think this dynamic is always going to happen with guards vs bigs. A 6'4" guard in the NBA is in the best 20 out of 10s of millions other players. A 7' center is in the best 20 out of a few thousand other potentials. Any NBA guard is an elite athlete, smartest player on the court, with an insane work ethic. The big just has to be big.

I think someone like Embiid is a perfect example of how "less involved" or more "casual" nba fans sometimes just have better takes. Like we are all gonna look back at Embiids career and be like "yeah he didnt really add anything to the NBA, didn't really do much, and his MVP is only bc of voter fatigue." Lets be honest, if you played basketball in the east coast for the last 3 years and you aren't a celtic or jimmy butler, you simply don't matter. Even the knicks are objectively not a good team. Take that team last year, put them on the west coast, they're maybe in the play-in.

You obviously wasn’t watching the league at that time. It was given to D rose because Lebron was hated for going to Miami but D rose was HIM. Lead his team to ECF with luol deng as his second best player. Nobody was upset he won. He probably would’ve had more, injuries just got the best of him.

Derrick Rose at least had an argument why he should win on that season. It just his career turns out not to live up his MVP season. Embiid won because league don't want Jokic or Giannis to win for the third time even using racism to downplay Jokic. They even purposely don't talk about Giannis just to build argument why Embiid deserved it

What shocks me the most is that Embiid and Jokic were drafted the same year (2014, but Jokic still played one more season in Europe) and since then Embiid has missed 373 regular season games and Jokic 53. Jokic played 4 seasons more than Embiid even though he entered the league one year later.
@richborn6700Ай бұрын
Let's be real. If Embiid and the Sixers made it to a Finals they'd be swept. Embiid would be a no show with the lights too bright, and every postgame presser would be Embiid throwing Maxey under the bus.
@littlesmallworld123Ай бұрын
Every time Embiid is brought up, there still seems to be a selection of fans trying to stand for him. He progressively gets worse every month and their take every time is "feel bad for the guy" bc of injuries and narratives. Too. Freakin. Bad. The guy's good at basketball and that's about the only thing he has going for him in the public eye. I honestly hope the 6ers never win a thing with this dude on the team.

What stands out is the minutes per game for players during Kobe's time. Almost all of those players listed were averaging around 40 minutes per game. Now its all about load management and players missing key games because of how meaningless seeding and home court has become.

I’m a big Lakers fan, and even I was rooting for Philly to do well this season. It feels like they’ve been in the worst possible situation forever. They have superstar talent, they just always get hit with bad luck or sticky situations. And as for Embiid, I’m a fan of his game, but not his talk. He trash talks KAT and other players but doesn’t even have a Finals appearance to back it up. Yeah he has All-NBA appearances and 2 MVPs, but he always shrinks when the lights are at their brightest. And he can’t blame his coach either because I think Nick Nurse is one of the better coaches in the League. And now Maxey is calling him out for always being late to practices. Like I said, I’m a fan of his play style, and I’m rooting for him to add a Larry O’Brien trophy to his accomplishments, but right now he’s just underachieved and underperformed when it matters most.

He won MVP, he's been all first NBA team. I don't like him much, and I think he's overrated. But he is a superstar. He's been a top 5 MVP candidate for years now. He has been considered a top 5 NBA player up until this season for probably 3-4 years now.
