We all need trees! Not only do they provide essential ecosystem services, but they also help us to mitigate climate change through carbon sequestration. With our interactive Carbon Storage Ruler, explore the role our forests play and how the carbon they store through their growth compares to our day-to-day emissions.
Want to use the Carbon Storage Ruler in your classroom? We've prepared some lesson plans, resources, and discussions to help facilitate an engaging experiential learning experience for Grades 3 to 12! Check our our educator resources here: www.forestnb.c...

This is actually very interesting, but it also explains why planting trees won't fix climate change: we would just need too many of them. There is nothing wrong with planting trees, and they might help a little, but every time I see someone write "we don't need solar panels on parking lots, we need trees!" I think they don't know what they are talking about.

I think there are more efficient ways to capture power from the sun than using solar panels. But panels have a place and it seems they should cover more of are "man made" structures and surfaces. And it is not just about capturing carbon - trees cool the locale environment - reducing the heat load on us and the machines that make us cool.

Thanks for the info. I am from Quebec and I'll be doing a small presentation on trees, so that will come handy for me. Great topics now more than ever.
