Man, you got a great deal. Just equipment delivery and pick up here is $250.00 each way. A small dozer, under 100HP is $150.00 to $200 per hour. Over 100HP is $300 and up. The excavator starts at $275 per hour That 2 and 4 inch base rock is going to need fines on top to finish. Our lane is just shy of a half mile with several large hills. I will say our cost on a 20 ton load is substantially less and I normally put at least two to four loads per year under normal maintenance with a backup load for potholes. Best way to dress and smooth I have found is with a HD rock rake on the tractor but only after fines are applied.

Wonderful breakdown, Lucas. Glad it worked out for ya. One thing I'd recommend, is if you have any large chunks of rocks left over from cutting that hill out, toss them under where those culverts spill out. It'll help keep that hillside from washing out over time. Creates some nice looking waterfalls during the rain too if you do it right. Great stuff!

Lucas, JD is providing excellent service for a better price! My drive cost twice what you paid, but there are different factors like you mentioned. The road we cut in did not exist beforehand, just kind of an ATV path. I put in bigger concrete culverts and the road ended up over 1700 feet. I bought 6 loads of road base and had 4 loads spread by the dump trucks for $675 per load. I have the extra two for after we finish our house and all the big trucks are finished driving on what we originally spread. We then can spread the extra road base in the weaker areas of the drive before we spread #57 gravel. I will probably only spread two loads of 57 because I will concrete part of the road. I cannot tell you how many trees I had removed to cut in the road, but that was the biggest factor to the cost of the road. After I am finished I will have a $40,000 road back to the house. I believe I got a fair price for the work I had done and at the end of the day I am satisfied with the work I had done. If I had to do it over I would have hired a different contractor to have done the work, but that is a long story. God Bless
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead Күн бұрын
Yes, we really didn’t have to have that many trees removed really. I was hoping by breaking down the costs per hour and such that it will help folks get a better idea what they are paying for. Sounds like you are going to have a really nice road. I’m certain that I will be adding more gravel soon. This was more of a bare minimum to get me up and running through the winter. Thanks for watching!

I live across the street almost from a quarry here in the mountains of NC where I pay $22 a ton when I carry my own. When I get larger loads delivered the Dump drivers average 150-200 per 10 ton. The road looks amazing.

Amazing break down and overview. I was a water management specialist for about 10 years. I wish I would have stocked up on stones and gravel back then. Even here in philly it was super cheep. Also if you where capable like have a trailer getting your stone over a long time could help save costs. I’d guess 50% on the delivery costs maybe a little more. Road looks fantastic. Not sure if you have seen those rock baskets on the side of the highway they started using a wile back. They would be great for that hill out back the houses and shop . !!!! 🦾🧬🎯
