My '91 A70 Supra has cost me $8,000+ already. I wish my project was only roughly $3,000. The car is still a roller; hasn't been started yet - still getting parts rounded up, etc. I'm trying to do it right first time around. I also got an immobilized ECU when I bought my 2JZGTE VVT-i engine. I opted to go standalone, and got the AEM Infinity 6 along with a custom harness made from Wiring Specialties. That alone was near $4,000. I got myself into a mess, but once it's done I'll be happy.

You did phenomenal getting it done for $4000. Now, single swap it, get the standalone ECU upgrade the injectors and that will account for the additional $4000 not including the tune. Oh yeah and I forgot, the clutch and diff upgrades. So another $2000.

Single swap it, as in upgrade the manifold, and get a big turbo. Manifold: 1100-1400. Turbo: 1200-1700.

It's not a business opportunity, it's a loss, or breakeven at best. I'm $13,000 into a 1jz vvti cressida swap, with supporting chassis mods. If I ever decided go resell, I would have difficulty getting $13,000 back.

yeah im aware that its a N/A. But in my opinion I would rather keep the vvti for the wide power band, (you can even get aggressive aftermarket vvti cams). Upgrade engine internals, lower compression rings, high hp rated rods etc. You don't need to search for long to find all the parts like turbo pipes inter cooler Standalone ecu, my favorite for website to get all this stuff is under. Just choose your options and order everything. Yes this is the hard and time consuming way, but there is a lot more potential, look at the dyno. 300 extra horse power and way wider power band, only difference vvti and non vvti. Same engine same components. -w58 from the is300 (its also a common lexus/toyota 5 spd its just weak) -r154 (doubt it bc those cost as much as the jz motor itself) -he some how kept the is300 auto tranny which is a bummer -the 1jz came with an auto and he just used that (which is also a bummer) but i understand if its his daily, prob smartest to keep it auto if youre thinking about swapping a jz-gte motor into is 300/gs 300.
