I have a '94 SC300 (2JZ-GE, 5-speed manual) with an aftermarket turbo (338 rwhp @ 13 psi). For years I was plagued by exhaust leaks between the head and manifold. I finally fixed the issue. Some of the studs had stripped out of the aluminum head and I installed Helicoils. The other issue was that the cast iron manifold itself was warped. It had to be removed and the mating face machined flat. I reinstalled the manifold with doubled graphite gaskets between it and the heads. I also fabricated and installed an 1/8" thick solid copper gasket between the manifold and turbo. Since those repairs I haven't had any further issues with the engine.

hi everyone couple quick tips for building jzs as I have done a few, stock bottom end 2jzge non vvti are great just chuck a gte oil pump and crank trigger setup on them with a gte inlet cam with the cam trigger and you have a 9.5-1 comp 500whp reliable every day setup. personally I throw a 1jz head on them and run around 22psi of boost on e85 as when you put a 1jzgte head on the comp goes over 10-1. but there's a 500+hp setup for under 1k. happy drifting

Most of this is very good information but I do have a few things to add, #1 the Pistons on the vvti 2jzge crack on the ringlands over 350whp if you don't have a great tuner, #2 the ge's doesn't have oil squirters in the block so people that drift tend to want to run them because of the better oil pressure because of lack of them, #3 an the reason why 1jzge head's are so popular on 2jzge's is because the intake manifold front facing, #4 an this is very important the stroke on a 1j is 71.5 an a 2j is 86 so by All rights they shouldn't be interchangeable I've never verified this but I don't see how it's possible, #5 Journal 1 on the 2j is 23mm and the rest are 20mm an all the journals on a 1j is 20mm, #6 vvti is great for drifting but not so much for drag after 600hp or so it's not useful an that's why big hp guys don't run vvti an the big hp guys that bought vvti 2jzge's just because of there availability eliminate the vvti system an run non vvti cams.

Did I mention it’s the most reliable 600hp you can get I mean you can buy engines with 600hp stock and still have hella expensive problems on your hands

Any information as far as boosting a 1JZ-GE Non VVTI? I know it's not a very common boosted engine so I just wanted to see if anyone has done it and has any info on what would be interchangeable through the JZ realm as far as aftermarket parts goes for boost applications? Example: if I go single turbo NA-T could I use the same aftermarket turbo manifold from a 1JZGTE and it would match up to the head fine? I can't really find a whole lot of information on the 1JZGE Non vvti (1 Gen 1JZ )

They aren't really worth thinking about since they have to be swapped into everything and aren't nearly as good as the JZ platforms and others since they don't have as many available parts, and have 4 cams to deal with, etc. If they came in a useful chassis besides the SC400 they would be something to consider and think about.

@GroovesAndLands
@GroovesAndLands 6 жыл бұрын
For heavy sustained load, the piston squirters are excellent at keeping the pistons cool. Very important on a diesel or an endurance track car. Not critical for a street car that only see's WOT for short stints.
@TheOystei
@TheOystei 6 жыл бұрын
Since this channel caters a lot to drifters too, that sounds relevant, especially for people using engines where you can hotlap for longer periods of times (entire tire life for most high power cars) as drifters usually tend to rew hard for "extended" periods of time
@GroovesAndLands
@GroovesAndLands 6 жыл бұрын
I'm not a drifter and frankly, don't understand the powertrain needs of that genre of motorsports. That notwithstanding, my assessment of what oil squirters provide is accurate. Use your best judgement. Cheers!

Keep the land cruiser motor, it is a beast, I have had 8 of them. The 2JZ would be a downgrade for it. If you want a bunch of power out of the motor you can put a turbo on it, search for sand drag land cruisers and stuff on youtube and enjoy the hilariousness

Thank you for your quick response, Is a Turbo better than a super charger for my 94? because the Toyota Super Charger they sell is for 96 and newer also any brand you would recommend in either Turbo or Super charger?
@LoneStarDrift
@LoneStarDrift 6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, just leaving it alone is the best answer. I believe the 1995 OBD2 cars can bolt on the TRD super charger very simply, but I don't believe your year can due to differences. Just leave it alone and enjoy the thing. If it is a bit slow you can bump the timing up a bit when doing a tune up, and that is probably about it lol.

In Toyota's engine naming system: G = DOHC engine with timing belt or chain driving both camshafts directly F = DOHC engine with timing belt or chain driving only one camshaft directly, with the other camshaft being driven by a gear on the 1st camshaft.

Actually Jared not quite right it changes 2gr has its chains driven non directly and the 1fz has both cams directly driven by the chain explain? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I work at Lexus for many years and I can tell you the naming system is not that right

@@jeffreybastian1331 Well the g in 2gr is just referencing the engine family tho, so 2gr-fe is an 'f' engine, thats what I meant

Is a 1st gen. 1JZ-GE (non-VVTi) able to produce 300bhp w/o forced induction? If possible to do a 300bhp NA build, what are the necessary things that needs to be modified?
@Matt_Lanzer_13
@Matt_Lanzer_13 5 жыл бұрын
Nick Amarit for a 1j? Probably not gonna happen. You’d need a crazy stroker setup, some humongous cams, itbs, and you’d need to rev it to like 11,000 to make that much power. The highest hp na 2j took like 20 grand to build and only makes like 500 hp. It’s WAY cheaper to make that much turbo’d
@nickamarit
@nickamarit 5 жыл бұрын
@@Matt_Lanzer_13 I understand what you mean totally. How much power would 11k RPM, huge cams, head porting, ITBs, performance exhaust system from header to muffler, uprated fuel system... and etc. be able to produce on a NA 1JZ, you think? And, from experience, I like the displacement (bore/stroke ratio) behavior of the 1JZ more than a 2JZ... the 1JZ just revs up more quickly... We have both 1JZ and 2JZ (but both NA though) at the house, but the 2JZ is in my dad's Merc (so I can't mod that lol).

Nick Amarit honestly? I have no idea. I’ve never done anything so serious. The most na jz experience I have is with my 2jz ge before I turbo’d it. It made about 170 wheel if it was lucky. I think you’d be pretty hard pressed to make that much power naturally aspirated from a built na 2j, let alone the smaller 1j. When talking na, displacement is king. You could definitely get a stout little na 1j that would probably make half decent power, but I don’t know about 300+. Good luck man!

@@Matt_Lanzer_13 i'll keep the 300 number as an end/dream goal for my NA 1JZ build then... let's keep it at bhp tho, not whp. :)
