I’m a 58 y/o disabled veteran who discovered your channel today. When I was your age I wanted to do what you two are doing. The woman I was married to at the time said “absolutely not.” Long story short, I am now watching the two of you living a dream I had and you are doing it perfectly. You have a fan for life. ❤

Oh. I'm a 54 year old widow ( daughter of the pictured couple). I wanted to do up an old place too. Living in Australia it's not easy as we are only a couple of hundred years of settlement. And in Western Australia it's less than 200 years. So I longed to live in Europe or the UK. So it didn't happen. But it's nice to see young people living the dream.

Too bad you did not follow your true heart. You would've found another once you headed your desired path. Anyone tells me "absolutely not," to what my heart authentically wants it's, "See ya." Lose sight of self for no one; it's a hefty cost to self.

To be fair not every young couple have the same financial help that this young couple may have and therefore aren't in any position to buy let alone renovate such an incredible property. In Australia you'd be lucky to buy any house of any size nowadays.... It's an unreachable dream. I would have loved to have done it too. 😢 ( I'm not the lovely couple pictured on this profile, I'm their lucky third child. Lol. ( 54yrs young and still their child lol ).

I think it's GREAT that two young people without kids are putting in the sacrifice and hard work to do something they seem to love and something so worthwhile! I live in the US and follow a channel of an older couple that have been doing restoration flips on old villas in Spain. The older homes and architecture in the US is so stark compared to Europe. And your garden! 😍 It's so rare here to find gardens and stone work like you have here. I mean REALLY rare. Restoring these homes 🏡 is also a service to the world! I've watched so many older homes here get bulldozed. 😖 Thank you for taking the time to share your journey 🙏

Bravo. I’m 37 and in my 4th house. I’ve always bought houses that need work and lived in them while upgrading them. Didn’t have a working toilet in the current house for little over a month. Worth it though. This house has been flipped and the value has gone up. But I’ve always upgraded to better neighborhoods. It’s exhausting but worth it. And rewarding to do the work yourself. No mortgage on my last 3 houses. Used the profit and savings and have been very frugal with diy.

Just found your channel and am really enjoying seeing you do up this house. It brings back memories, as back in the 80's, my parents bought an old Victorian house in the Cotswolds where i grew up. I spent so much time helping Dad out while he did the place up, we were told there was a basement that was boarded up, but never did find the door as the room it was supposed to be in was recently decorated so Dad didn't want to strip those walls back, what a shame!! We did find plenty of other things around the house, including a load of old pins under the floorboards of the biggest bedroom, we found out sisters who were seamstresses lived there in the 1800's. Outside while dad was digging to put a patio in, he found an old white sink buried and under it was a giant square slab of stone. It was so big and heavy we had to rig up a whole load of levers and get help from friends to heave it off, where underneath was a deep well. I look forward to seeing what else you find!

After giving my all physically without much sleep for about a year and a half I had major burn out and severe fatigue. It’s very important to pace oneself and to know and respect limits. (I got heat stroke after working in 114 degree heat for multiple hours.) I was KZbin-ing how to do things with my little one on my hip lol we were quite the team! I love how calm, patient and dedicated you both are. Way to take care of yourselves and each other in the process. Love from CA ❤

Like you - investment, but again like you, to preserve the original features and make it my home! I'll double my investment if I ever do sell, but I've put my heart and soul into this house and I love it. I had a 5yr plan, so I'd like it completed properly in 5yrs, but I'm taking each area as it comes. The stairs and landing have taken me SO LONG!

I’m amazed that in your mid-20’s you both have already owned your own homes. It’s sadly become less and less common for younger people in the USA to be able to afford to buy a house!

Our daughter did exactly the same as you did! Seven bed, Victorian, owned by three business men who wanted it in the location as their children were coming here for Uni. It was a huge amount of money when first listed. Then over time it dropped and dropped as they had let it out for multiple occupancy to student. Much need to be done with it, they are still making improvements sixteen years later. But doing it to last the test of time using and sourcing original materials that fits the era it was built in. They sold both their properties for great prices as they invested in both of those also.

The only reason you don't see young people restoring is because they can't afford it. All we can do is look in horror as flippers and older people destroy beautiful houses due to poor taste and profit. I'm genuinely baffled that at 26 both had houses that were worth over 200,000 on average each. That's a lot of daddy and mummy's money that has allowed this.

Your comment in the description of this video says it all. “We are immensely privileged to be surrounded by supportive and encouraging family and friends and you really can't underestimate how much of a leg up that kind of thing is.” So many people feel isolated and alone in this modern world. That sort of support is certainly a leg, a hand and a ladder up.

But I have seen over the decades thet that sort of support can go along way to someone’s well-being and happiness. Very sorry if you misunderstood my comment, But if that’s not the case, I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do and their conviction and determination at such a young age. If you're facing a lot of negativity from people because you're "too young" to own a house or that you're "too privileged" then I'm really sorry. Two years ago (when I was the same age as you) I bought my first house with a partner, it cost just over £500k, I am an immigrant from a country known to be poor. My family literally lived off of foraging, first time I tasted bread I was 8 years old, we also spent some time homeless, as the youngest I only ever wore hand-me-downs - bought a new piece of clothing for the first time when I was 19 lol. But my single mother instilled in all of us a grand sense of "wanting more" and working to achieve it. I've saved every penny for the past 15 years. My social life suffered a little but I did it to be where I am now. I'm just under 30 but a home owner, have a relatively good job and I hussle like crazy (to make sure I get my 4 holidays a year :D). Only a few times in my life have I met people from worse backgrounds than me - every time they've developed as far or even further than me. It's led me to not think but KNOW that it IS possible, but you do genuinely have to put in hard work and focus. When someone has help from family etc and they're smart with how to best use that help I feel so happy for them. I wish I had been in the same position, everyone SHOULD be in the same position. Not something I'd ever complain about. All the best to both of you :)

My husband and I have also worked our way up the property market by strategically buying, renovating and selling several properties, and it’s a great way to do it, so I think it would likely be very encouraging to others to see how you’ve gotten to this point by showing your past projects!

I'd certainly like to see the 'journey' that led you to Belgrave. It's very refreshing to hear you talk about budgets and financing the project; it's something that a lot of other vlogs, that I watch anyway, really glaze over, which I think leads people to believe that projects like these are out of reach as seemingly the people they are watching have a seemingly endless source of cash, as they bounce from one project to the next.

Yeah a summary of some previous projects would be grand, especially good for covering "missed weeks" (in case of sickness or holiday or something).

Your doing what my wife and I wanted to do when we were 20 somethings, but with 4 kids by the time we were 28. So happy for you, and the building is wonderful, so good on you. Even if you didn't think so this was a renovation video. Nice breakdown and wish you lots of fun doing it.

I live in the States and my parent's taught me and my siblings that taking about money: wages, the cost of something, peoples wealth, and etc. was improper. It showed we lacked poor etiquette and manners. Though, thanks for sharing this as it shows how long it takes some people to buy and properly renovate a home. It would be great to see pictures of your past projects. 😊

I think it's impressive that you've done so much already, and I'd be interested to see what you did with your previous homes. It looks like you did your homework and came to this project well-informed. You have a lot more house for the money, being willing to do the work. In California you can barely get a 3-bed, 2 bath 'tract house' for that price. Being young, you will have the energy to get this work done. Congratulations!

Absolutely perfect!!! I would have done the same thing when I was young! To have a huge house as your continued project over years vrs many smaller projects, the large house is a very wise choice!! I love it 👏👏👏👏👏 you two work well together. Never stop being respectful of each other don't forget to laugh… you need laughter!! Do this and you will be good💖

From the outset, I guessed it would have cost £400k so I wasn't far off, and yes I did look online and saw the article you showed where 700k is mentioned. Such a stunning property. I would love to know about your past projects. You must have done a fair few to be able to sell two properties and have somewhere around £half a mil to buy this one AND put aside the initial renovation costs. This truly is a house for life, one to raise a family in as it's absolutely beautiful. I am curious as to the ages of you both. I shall go back to binge watching now so I'm up to date. Thanks for making videos of your progress. /G x

Good for them. I spent my childhood doing this kind of work with my father and brothers and hated every minute of it. So I'm left with an eye for houses with potential and desire to see the results of what can be done by determined people with a gift for restoration and decoration (my mother's gift for historic styles, color, design, furniture) and the ability to assess a quality structure in a good location and the skills to do the work (dad), but without the desire to do all the work of restoring the structure. I constantly notice houses with potential wherever I am and think of everything that needs to be done to restore it...but I'd need to win the lottery and hire people to do the work, because the ambition and will to do the hard work is just not there. If these young people have the ambition and will to save that house as a house and not as just a way to make a lot of money while destroying the beauty and charm of the home, then more power to them. They are doing a good thing for a culture and in an age where we find it easy to destroy beauty but not to create it, and when the people with money know the cost of everything but the value of nothing. They are saving their country's heritage. I wish them success. I don't envy them the hard work one bit, because I know what it means. And if they end up in a million-pound home, they earned it.
