I find your videos remarkably generous and free of agenda or self-promotion. Such a rare experience. I wrestle with the level of courage it took to go your own path and leave the conveyor belt so many of us find ourselves on in the west. you also share with us some of life's most precious (and sometimes private) moments on your journey. all I can give in return is genuine thanks and gratitude.

I have sold all my possessions in Australia after 5 years of my Thai wife and chid being here with me, she travelled back to thailand a few months ago and I will be in rural thailand in January. Yes it is a huge step but not really, you only get one life here and as I have said to all my friends and family (most of which who are supportive) just have a crack! life is for living, don't say "I'll do that tomorrow because tomorrow never comes. I am 48yo and my plans were to head to thailand at around 60-65 yo to retire but recently with the way I see the world changing my option is just have a crack now.

@@thelostphotographer1438I’m like you mate turning 47 next year and don’t see myself working in Oz until 60 let alone 67, place is going backwards, middle class are expected to pick up the tab for people who refuse to work and a government that doesn’t spend our money very well, Only thing that keeps me here is that t I want my Thai step children to finish school here and for them and my wife to get Australian citizenship, which is still another 4 years. Then hopefully I can live in my wife’s village working the rice fields or sitting overlooking and fishing in the pond, good luck with your move.

I just watched this video from beginning to end, and I would like to say I found it remarkably professional, very concise and well balanced. I've seen many property tv programs in the UK who use a team of presenters, cameramen, sound engineers, producers, script writers and editors etc. You have managed to put this all together single handedly showing how talented you are in many fields, organizational skills, project management, communications, design, and plenty more stuff. You are obviously a very employable person with abilities that could easily demand big sums of money (or run your own business), but you have chosen a simple life and simple way. Congratulations! 🤩

Hey Ryan, Great video - and superbly detailed costing. I used to do this stuff for a living, in a previous life - and I’ve rarely seen cost breakdowns so well done. It constantly amazes me how people can “consume” TOTALLY FREE and interesting material …. then criticise or disparage it !! But that’s the moaning 10% for you. Much less those who can’t work out what “furnishing” (as distinct from fittings) might cost ??

Thank you so much Ryan for this grand finale to the cottage build series. You are an amazing family who take everything in your stride. The cottage is a fantastic addition to your estate and you and Damo can be rightly proud of the outcome. It is beautiful. Praying that Damo will feel better soon and that she delivers a healthy Hugo soon. God bless you all always. Wishing you all a very Merry and Blessed Christmas. "May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the obedience of Joseph, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the magi, and the peace of the Christ child. Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit bless you now and forever.”

Nice build Ryan. I think it looks great. Prices here in Kanchanaburi province are similar. It might be worth mentioning with the price here that you are using quality materials and there are options. It will be interesting to see how the ceiling hold up if there is any leak in the roof. I have seen this before. Did you build any precautions into that? Anyway, well done. Thanks for sharing.

I think your homestead is beautiful. So artistic and attractive. With electricity, plumbing and air conditioning you have a very comfortable life in an attractive setting. Building standards are very different, but given what appears to be a solid base, it will make a home that will last a long time. In Canada, and throughout NA, we tend to build disposable homes. They may have a stronger foundation, but the structure is just wood sticks with some cheap skin over top. After 30 years they get torn down and replaced. And they cost a lot.

The cottage has turned out stormingly well, and the finishes seem really excellent quality and sit very well together. Given a blank floor plan, no two families would come up with the same project - but the main consideration is (as you said) that this one achieves exactly what YOU wanted. I, personally, did not think the stairs and the mezz would work in such a tight area. …. I was wrong!! They have actually ADDED to the ambience of the living area! Well visualised, you two! Best wishes to Damo (and Hugo) for a trouble-free ‘process’ from here 🤞🏼
