Been using SCS for close to 2 years for my small business on the regular. The only 2 things i look forward to are plating, anodizing and powder coating for parts up to 32 inches, and an app for quick use. I love how the website is already styled like it were an app but its not the easiest to use on the phone.

The toss of the folder after the off-camera part hand off? Amazing. The dude telling the cameraman to not show the boss? Perfect. The anecdote about trying to use a harbor freight powder coater? Both relatable and you gotta get a dedicated oven in your garage/shop (but it still sucks). Way too good.

I was unaware that laser cutters used HRPO plates and not plain jane black mild steel. Since watching this video, I have added that material grade and surface finish to my CAD software database so I can specify that on my BOM. I will also need to follow up with my suppliers to see if this is actually their standard business practice.

So just to be clear, nesting/stacking/combining parts doesn’t really save any money, it’s just about how long it takes to cut? So total line length is the only thing you really have to consider? I had a project a while ago that had 9 similar-but-not-duplicate polycarbonate parts and I was really pleasantly surprised to find that combining them all into one file only changed the price by like $0.20 Love your service and love your prices! Please never change
@sendcutsend2 ай бұрын
@@aaronec2121 Yep! We handle all of that for you. We calculate our prices assuming that we’ll be able to nest everything together, usually with other customer’s parts too. We assume an ideal scrap rate and make sure that you’re not charged for excess waste 🫡

Any thoughts about adding tube laser capabilities? My company does a lot of stainless square tubes that end up in our machine shop to add holes, slots, and threads ($$$ and takes forever). You guys have the best pricing UX for sheet metal by far, and I'd love to have that same experience for tubing parts.

@@ianschutt6242 we use fiber lasers, co2 lasers, CNC routers and waterjets depending on the material! A question on those $29 aluminum parts: How do the extra cutting time costs versus extra material costs end up working out with those interior holes? Would it have been cheaper or more expensive if those parts were solid without the "lightening" holes?
@sendcutsend2 ай бұрын
In most cases, the less cutting we have to do, the less the part will cost. A simple square will be less expensive than a square with 30 holes in it. The square with the holes will use less material, but the cutting time is the biggest factor
