He’s not a transient visitor to Japan, I assume he has a real address having lived in Japan for so long. Would you have to do the same, being that you are married to a native citizen? Housing costs are getting out of control. Average rent is $2000 in the Worcester, MA. area. Plus to buy a small house that was $120,000 15 years ago, would now cost over $400,000!!!! Though I am lucky to live in a nearby small town, in a house I inherited. I would struggle to afford rent or a mortgage on my monthly income. Congratulations on 1 million subscribers! Glad I could be a part of your wonderful accomplishment. Love the new apartment. Hope you are comfortable and happy in your new living quarters. Off to help out Drew. 😁

In capital of Romania, 2 room apartment (living room - bedroom + kitchen + bathroom) has a rent of only 250-300 euros. And in the capital the salaries are above 1000 euros if you have a decent career. In the west things are out of control regarding rent. I don't know how you guys are surviving !!

It's amazing to see other real estate markets around the world. I share a house with my older brother and his family and are father who recently retired. We live in a small town in northern Washington state. The house is almost 5000 square feet and cost us about $750,000 3 years ago. Congrats on 1M subs. Matt C.

My thoughts exactly. There are so many beautiful houses in Japan for 1/10 of the price. I guess it's an American thing to get everything in XL size. Where I live a 60m2 flat is considered pretty spacious. My brother and I were brought up in a 48m2 flat and if we had one more room of 10 -12 m2 that would be the dream come true. I guess to each their own.

In 2012, I bought my home for $87,000. I live in Virginia. The home is a 2007 model doublewide, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, on 0.92 acres of land, and my back porch has a view of woods and a small mountain. While people in this area pay $900 to $1,200 a Month in rent, I pay about $900 a Year in property taxes. I have no traffic driving by my house, because it's down a long driveway; and I don't think a span of 24 hours has ever passed without me seeing a pack of deer in my yard. They're as common as birds.

I currently live in Germany and prices here are also quite high. I live with my partner 50 km away from Hamburg and we pay, for a 78m2 with place to park, around 800€. This may seem fairly affordable and it is definitely better than a lot of places, but we also had to buy/bring our own fridge, lightsbulbs, appliances, furniture and even the kitchen and oven. Aside of that you have to pay the monthly expenses, the electricity bill, internet bill and the moving fee, which is 3 times the rent. The difference is, when we move out, if everything is fine, they give the deposit back. Congrats on 1mill subs! You rock Pearl!
