That’s not true. This data is fairly easy to obtain through a Google search. MBB firms in the US pay a base salary of $195K to fresh business school hires. With a bare minimum bonus of ~30 to 40K, the salary starts to touch the mid 200K range. With an up or out culture, salary jumps happen every two years till you become a partner within 8 years. I know this because I am with an MBB firm in the US.

Bruh. You got no idea. Fact checks below:-- 1) Average salary is around 160-175 k. If we include performance bonus then it becomes close to 200k. So she is somewhat right. 2) You are wrong about the selection because this year Mc Kinsey picked 61 students from Chicago booth, Bain picked 28 and BCG picked 53. So total 142 from a batch size of 538. Similarly, they pick from other M10 colleges. So your chances of landing a consulting role is pretty high if you get into M10. Clarifications:- 1) You are right about that partner thing. 2) The number you said about picking is probably for IIMs and Indian top B schools because these front office roles are less in India.

Not all the hires become consultant some go into basic administration too so it’s not a set number. And how different is 160k from 150k I talked about couple of years back when I worked there, first year bonus is negligible if you don’t bring in too much value. I know my facts very well btw my brother has done his mba from duke and he currently works at big 5 it’s not as fancy as people think it’s a lot of work for average money
