I literally just finished talking about funds & the huge increase of the costs of materials & gear recently with my wife for our fit out. Budgeting is getting harder these days. Good on you for getting out there I'll be 60 next year & we "Still" haven't left, even though we planned too about 30 years ago and work as we went, it just never happened! We are now carrying a lot of debt. (Mortgage, loans from my previous business, credit cards etc etc) it's just work, work, work to get through it all. We are certainly not into doing You Tube, blogging etc (& have no intention to do so) but good on you for giving it a go. I'm not a fan of most You Tubers because of the need to sell or keep content coming for a living, but how down to earth you guys are is what keeps you real. P.S...... are we happy? Not as happy as you!! (but we do have a nice home & 2 awesome kids in their 20's who by the way are into travel) We will get there one day I hope! CHEERS!!

Hey mate thanks for watching. Yes the amount that some people are now charging is pretty crazy isn’t it!! You will 100% get there just keep at it- you’re happy that’s the main thing. We really appreciate your kind words thanks again for watching Rod 😊

You guys are seriously awesome. Your openness and honestly is a refreshing trait to see on youtube. If we look at others like 4xOverland they are always trying to protect their ideas and content. All credit to you for honestly divulging some of the revenue streams you have found through online exposure. I believe too many others will not divulge for fear of diluting the resource. Sadly too many will not honestly divulge what's propping them up through sheer embarrassment, not wanting to create jealousy and/or relying on an false image of unbias. I think we all know who fits into which barrel. They just think everyone is stupid.

You mentioned that you started with $35k for you travels and that you have made money along the way from affiliate marketing, selling images etc Can I ask what sort of income you are now generating through these various channels? Reason for asking is to understand the impact on the budget required to do these travels. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻

@paulgriffiths73993 жыл бұрын
Really great and informative video guys well done. You're naturals around the camera and it comes across very genuine. One quick question on how much it costs. Can you give me an estimated how much it costs per day to travel. As in fuel and food and water and camping expenses and car maintenance etc. Mainly those ones. As to say without phone bill and your own individual costs etc. The bare bones everyone would have to be paying. I remember seeing anywhere from 30-60 a day.
@peejay15313 жыл бұрын
Not there yet Paul, still in the planning and development stage. But for me the starting point is fuel cost, as I suspect it will be the largest, and along with maintenance and repairs, a non negotiable(ie we can always eat cheaper, not do the tourist trips etc). As such, my starting point is how many kilometers I plan to travel, and have an estimate of $/km to extrapolate from. From there, a budget for maintenance and a kitty for repairs, then ongoing bills/expenses and personal expenses. Safe travels.

Thank you guys for being so transparent. We are travelers as well, from NZ. We spent years saving for our 18 month trip (that was meant to be longer but was cut short due to covid). We spent a while backpacking through Asia and Africa before buying a van in Virginia USA, turning it into a camper and driving South as far as Guatemala before we had to return to NZ in March 2020. We struggled to find videos like this whilst we were saving and wish there was more like it. Personally, we saved as much as we could and had to deal with seeing those negatives. Now we are back at the saving point again and we are thinking of learning more about shares and crypto. We are currently planning an Australia overlanding trip (might see ya on the road) and then one day returning to our van which we have stored in Mexico. I hope your videos inspire more people to get out there and live like this. Keep up the awesome videos!

Loved your story guys and hearing how you guys are getting by. I definitely know one thing for sure… throw yourself into the unknown and the universe will open up opportunities you would never thought was possible. You guys are living example of that truth. My wife and I are waiting on our truck to come in and do the same thing I’ll definitely be sharing this vid with her. Subscribed 👌

@@itsJackandMegan thanks guys. It’s just interesting as we have been on the road for 18 months sold the lot. I love to hear how people are doing it. We have worked in caravan parks along the west coast of WA. Love your videos and the effort you have put into them. 👍
