This is very informative. It’s always nerve wracking going into business not knowing how it all pans out especially when you’re using your entire savings to invest in the business so videos such as these are very helpful.

I'd love to see a video of how you acquired your higher end shaving machines. It is a little nerve racking going to these random sites and not knowing who is a legit seller or not.

Hello! I've been watching all of your videos, they're super helpful. I'm going to purchase the Fujimarca soon, roughly how many 8 oz cones can it make in an hour? And how many cones can you make with each ice block? Thank you!
@thehaddocks Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would say at least 1 per minute. And probably 10+ 8oz cones per 1/2 gallon block.

Hi, thanks for all the great videos! They have been very helpful. Do you have to charge tax on shave ice where you live? If so, do you charge the exact sales tax amount or round up and down to get a whole number?
@thehaddocks Жыл бұрын
Yes we have sales tax. I include it in the price to make giving change faster.

Hi! A lot of thanks for all your videos about your Shave Ice store process. Please, can you tell me how many cups you can make with your 50cl syrup bottles? for example if you want to put 3 different tastes. I would like to exchange with you on a social network because I have a lot of questions... Thanks a lot!
@thehaddocks Жыл бұрын
Our bottle are quart bottles so 32oz. I would say we use anywhere from 1-5 oz per cup depending on cup size. Our mini is an 8oz foam cup and we probably use 1 oz of flavor. Our large is a 12 oz flower cup but we pile it high and it takes probably 4-5 oz of syrup

@inthesky783611 күн бұрын
I was charged $4.50 for a "small" size shaved ice from a food truck set up... looked like a 4 oz, but could have been 6 ounce cup. It was not piled high and it was narrow in the cup around the sides. The size of a kids gelato. Was I ripped off? I know its 2024 and inflation, but yikes

Hi- Just wondering how many finished products do you expect an employee to make per hour (reasonable pace) ? How long does it take to make one assuming everything is set and ready to go? Thanks
@thehaddocks Жыл бұрын
As many as possible. If the line is non stop they should be able to make 20-50 an hour. We have a gift shop as well so the person running the gift shop and help the shave ice side when the store is slow and the shave ice side is busy.

@thehaddocks Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, what seems to be the problem with your finished product?
@Christopherj1225 Жыл бұрын
@@thehaddocks for some reason when I make. the shave ice just melts when adding the syrup. Some people told me to try packing it down which I did, but then it wasn’t as good. I put a few syrups in the refrigerator and that helped somewhat. Normally they are stored at room temperature.
@thehaddocks Жыл бұрын
@@Christopherj1225 You have to find a happy medium on packing it. Not too much but enough. Also don't pour in 1 spot for too long. Move the pour bottle quickly so it all melts evenly.

Dumb question. I know you have the reverse osmosis water system at your place but I'm just starting out and plan on fairs and mobile events and was wondering if a PUR water filtration would be ok to start ? I've used my tap water for ice and it seems ok to me. Just wondering. Thanks

See what is required by your local health department. I have used tap water when I was first starting and testing.

I was watching a shave ice video and they said you don't need all those flavors. All you need is a red, a blue and maybe a pina colada. Any thoughts on that ?

Yes for an event or mobile business I would say less choices is better. There are also benefits for many flavor options. Watch this video: Shave Ice Business Permanent Location VS Events kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3vLmqV6m7eoibc
