UPDATE 1: The prices in this video have gone up since recording this (roughly 10-15%) UPDATE 2: There is now a 5th championship in Club 100. It’s called the Club 100 Experience, it’s designed for new drivers to club 100 and has 6 rounds costing £210 each!

Totally agree man! I probably didn’t outline it very well in the video, but EBay is a great place to get your stuff! It’s just hard to base figures off of the the prices on there, so I didn’t use it. Thanks though pal! 👌

Hi Sam, I've commented on a few of your videos last year but wanted to say now that - in no small part thanks to your channel - I am driving in the Novice 'experience' Club100 championship this year and am loving it! Just finished round 2 and having a blast. Other channels like Super GT is how I found out about Club 100 but it was your funny and humble 'rookie' videos, plus this one, that actually persuaded me to give it a go, and it's so fun! Thank you :)

I do all three champs, pay for the team race myself and also put up the team racers in air bnb. Most rounds I stay over 3x nights as I don’t drive home most Sunday nights. Without including petrol or food for the weekends I spend around £20,000 a season for the C100 racing. (This includes the PFI 6hr) My kit budget is usually £2-5k a year as well depending on what I get each year. I replace most of my kit twice a year usually.

20,000 on c100? Why? That would put you right at the sharp end of the Senior X30 or Senior Rotax grid.... Thats proper racing, laptimes are 10-20 seconds faster than c100 and its your own kart
@guitaralmond

@@ryanmicallef7098 that includes all 3 champs as well as stopovers, a lot of those are 3 nights for me. I don’t race owner driver or x30 because it’s too fast for me, there’s too much risk of injury. What means One Round? Like, for the sprint series is 3 races with 10 minutes? And maybe you could talk about the 4 stroke rental karts, isnt there any championships with then? Probaly really more cheaper then Club 100. In Brazil, our amateur championship races with 4 stroke, 15HP Karts are about R$ 150 (reais) aprox 25 euros, the races have 25 minutes, it is consider a really expensive sport for most people here. And there is no 2 stroke engine karts for rental racing.

what kart suit is required?. Will an indoor kart suit be OK or does it need to be a certain "approved" one?
@SMorrisHD
@SMorrisHD 3 жыл бұрын
From memory they have to be approved outdoor suits. But i would say noone really goes around checking them as everyone has outdoor suits anyway. As long as your suit is in good condition (i.e. no holes/rips/tears) and covers you safely with it not being too loose you should be okay. If you're struggling to get hold of a suit, some circuits (not all) offer hire suits for the day. Which can save you money if you just want to try it out! Buckmore Park, Whilton Mill and Bayford Meadows i know for sure can lend suits, im sure a couple more tracks would do the same. At the end of the day, its down to you to make sure that you've got the right gear to race safely, generally across the board the more expensive something is, the more safe it is. Hope this helps!

Hey sorry for the late reply! Its a tough one but I would lean towards heavyweight mate. All of your gear will weigh an extra 3-5kg or so, so all you would need is either a weighted seat insert or a few bits of ballast to reach the minimum weight in the heavyweight (90kg) Better than being at a disadvantage in the lightweights!

What would be the bare minimum price be if I was say to go to the pre-season test + 1 round of the sprint series whilst using as much provided gear at the track as possible? Also for the shoes is it necessary to buy karting shoes or if I'm only to go to one round to try could I just turn up in trainers?
@SMorrisHD
@SMorrisHD 3 жыл бұрын
it would cost £329 (1 round, test and registration), certain tracks like Buckmore Park and Whilton Mill can loan gear to you so you wont need to spend anything there.(Sorry i didnt highlight that in the video!) But im unsure whether they charge a fee for cleaning due to covid (i cant imagine it to be expensive if it has a price though.) Yes you can wear trainers as long as they are suitable. So yeah £329 bare minimum

@@SMorrisHD Are you sure about that, Sam? I thought that now Club 100 had come under Motorsport UK rules, the homologation and other kart rules were adopted, and therefore boots have to cover the ankle, as per gold book? But not sure...

apparantly,its meant to be none cheque book racing,but if you want to run at the front you end up having to do the enduro the day before at the very least to be 'on it' like the rest of the front runners. therefore it very much is cheque book racing!

In both of these classes there is an entry limit minimum weight (what you have to weigh before all of your gear) and the championship minimum racing weight (all of your gear, extra weight etc.) Lightweight: Entry - 63kg Championship - 70kg Super-Lightweight: Entry - 48kg Championship - 60kg Hope this helps! 3000 pound? Jesus, racing is expensive. It is about 30.000 Turkish Liras. I earn about 5000 Turkish Liras per month as a school counselor. In the current circumstances I can't afford to try it even once :( Maybe some day... In the future... About 50 years later... I hope....

Ah man i missed this comment!! Sorry! Yeah it is pricey mate. Tbh with you thats just a massive issue with motorsport in general. And thats the thing, club 100 is probably the most affordable form of a serious competitive racing series (in the UK) and yeah its around £3000 just to enter the lightweight series for a season. In an ideal world, motorsport should be accessible for everyone, but it's just not and its such a shame. I dread to think how many kids have dreams of racing professionally, just to be priced out of it. Hopefully in years to come it'll change for the better!

Do you know what cc the karts in club 100 are? I want to do a club 100 season next year but when looked on their website it says the karts are 125cc? The karts my local track always had were 390cc but they have recently done away with them and the adult karts are now all 270cc. Under 16’s have 200cc and my 7 year old daughter has to use 120cc and they crawl around which is fine for a 7 year old but definitely not for an adult, am I missing something? Is my local karting track turning the output on the karts down to save fuel because the 120cc is slow as hell and the 270cc are just about acceptable for speed but certainly not fast……
