according to SCAA rule book that wall thickness is perfectly legal for the weight of the vehicle :) i expected it to be 800lb lol you can make your own adjustable sway bar with just a torsion bar (from 4x4 toyota) and some custom ends. its much easier to sneak into places than an OEM bar with all its bends.

I made a sway bar using straight high tensile steel round bar. I welded arms on arms at the ends.. I tested it and found it could twist about 45 degrees before it went beyond it's elastic range, which was way more than the car could achieve with suspension articulation. I has been working fine for over 20 years now. It is easier to pass a straight bar through a tube chassis to keep it clear of the bottom surface, although the arms on it make it tricky to remove.

I see you using the chain hoist in the same spot and always having difficulty pulling engines and it reminded me of something my dad built in his shop but he used a piece of I beam and a trolly and built a overhead crane so he could just pull a vehicle in just enough to hook to the engine pull it out and then push it back instead of having to move the vehicle

🔧🛠🔩🤔💡 That's a great suggestion! Adding a skid plate to cover the sway bar on the Mini 4WD Trophy Truck would provide some extra protection and help prevent any potential damage during off-road adventures. It's always interesting to see how modifications like these can enhance the performance and durability of a vehicle. I'm curious to see how the team tackles this aspect of the project. 🛠🔩⚙ I have a suggestion for your Mini 4WD Trophy Truck project: why not consider making a skid plate to cover the sway bar? It could provide added protection and prevent potential damage. It's an interesting modification to explore, and I'm curious to see how it would impact the overall performance and durability. Keep up the great work! 🚀🔧🏁

A full underbody skid plate would be ideal, deflect any rocks & debris rather than absorb the impact into your suberb & time consuming frame, not to mention yourself. Looking Great 👍

My 1000cc sports car chassis weighed 44kg ( 97 lb ) at this stage of the build, so I was guessing about 250lb. Final weight of my car came to 420kg ( 925 lb ) including bodywork. But for off-road, it does need to be more solid. A lot of Chris' steel is there to complete the look rather than necessary for strength, and having doors makes it harder. I'd say he's doing very well, all considered.
@herbstanwood3309 Жыл бұрын
Fully done. Between 600 and 750 lbs.

The doors need some form of anti intrusion protection to keep them from bursting in and guillotining the occupants. A bump against a tree or rock will easily push them regardless of how strong the locks are.

@BIGWIGGLE223 Жыл бұрын
Chris, we've all seen how you drive. I don't think you've gotta worry about over engineering the frame with thicker wall tubing. Lol!! BUT, if you do get it out and it starts flexing or bending some of those tubes just replace those areas with some heavier tubing and you'll be good to go. If all these safety nannies had seen some of the junk we took to Mt. Maumee when I was barely legally allowed to drive they'd be flipping out about shit they know nothing about. All ya need are good seat belts. Its not like you're running over 45mph on most trails.

I'm going to take a guess that the bare chassis will weigh in. at somewhere between four and five hundred LBS. however if I have to pick just one number it would be 450 LBS? WOW that's a lot lighter than I was expecting. the tubing that you used must have been a little thinner wall than I originally thought? but that should be good, because ultimately you should want the power to weight ratio to be as close together as possible.
@johnmccanntruth Жыл бұрын
My guess was 450 until I saw you moving it around, then I thought it would be more in the 275-350 range.

@acurarl9929 Жыл бұрын
That front chain is going to skip just that length is just to much to be able to tighten enough well you could but you’d just destroy stuff. You’d have to tighten it so much but if you spilt that chain length in half by using a jack shaft it won’t take up any more room. Just wide enough for 2 sprockets and 2 bearings as close to gather as possible with out rubbing. 4-5.5 inch depending on what size stuff you use. Would still fit right down the center with what you already have for space
@scottgarvelink1289 Жыл бұрын
