Im in the Uk, got 4 kids need to live on a budget, I have 2, one in the dining room which the missus drys the clothes in and then another into my sitting room. I use Red Diesel, turned off all the radiators downstairs. I’m saving money this way. Plus it’s heats a room pretty quick. This unit the guy is describing is called the Kroak toolbox 2 exactly the same unit.

Good review / video, to the point and no flapping around, nice one 🙂 * I Have have been running tests on my 2kwh heater on my live on boat which (not a metal canal boat but a fiberglass / wooden 60 year old beauty, a Colvic Northerner and only 30ft L x 8.5ft W ) I can keep at around 22 deg to 24 deg and heater uses around 2 to 2.5 litres over 24 hours. We have cheaper boat diesel than from the garage pump, it is dyed red and VAT exempt. Compared to my old 230v oil heaters I save when very cold up to £5 to £7 daily and only now use between 4 and 6 kwh in electrics now for small fridge, laptop, rather than 20kwh to 24kwh of costs at .35p a unit. so now around £1.40 for 24 hours on electrics and £2 on 24 hours heating. my fuel tank holds 5 litres, our gallons are equal to 4.5 litres and US gallons are smaller (don't know why? have never googled that) I do have 300w solar for 3w / 5w lights / usb / 12v for diesel heater with 230v 5amp charger used for start up and when no sun so no solar. *All figures are approx.

Canadian here and this might be a backup heating unit as long as I can store enough electric power to match it. It is a bit of conundrum, my home has natural gas heating, but the furnace needs so much electrical power for the burner, the fan and the controller that providing backup power for that isn't obvious. This could be just the 1-2-3 day backup so the house remains above freezing.

Great video, sorry you cut your thumb. I would believe the power use being very low, that’s why so many people love them for off grid use, they sip electricity except when starting or shutting down. When using the infrared temperature sensors, make sure you don’t point to a reflective surface, it gives strange readings. Spray a dark area on the exhaust pipe with some high temperature paint, then point your ir gun there to measure, your readings will be more accurate. Looking forward to your fuel tests.

Bought a Hcalory TB2. Unfortunately my Toptes 580 carbon monoxide detector is showing the fresh air duct (positioned 16ft away from the heater) is producing 6 to 10 PPM which is concerning. Darn I was hoping to see 0. Not sure if I trust it. Thoughts? Thanks

From n.e pa.also....great video! I want to mount in box of utv in shelter of some sort to keep snow and rain off,,,I want drill a hole in box and plumb exhaust under machine , before rear window ,machine exhaust would circle up in cab,now I get none inside,,,but with fresh air intake to heater,should I make that like a cold air return from cab so no chance of exhaust getting tucked in?
@DIYJIM
@DIYJIM 2 ай бұрын
there are two intakes one intake for the burn chamber and it really would not hurt if a little exhaust got sucked in that one because it goes back out the exhaust. The other intake is for the air that gets distributed in the room. Hope this helps

I live in central northwest Pennsylvania, south of Bradford. It's been getting down to -6°F the last 3 nights. Do you think one of those diesel heaters, maybe even 2 of them, could heat my woodshop? It's 20' x 24' or about 480 sq. ft.. uninsulated and built in the 1940's. My ancient (early 1980's) pellet stove is failing and I'm looking for a replacement and the compact size of these would be great since my shop is already crowded with large machines like, 52" cabinet table saw, planer, jointer, router table, miter station, and cyclone dust collector. If I could eliminate the wasted corner caused by my pellet stove that would be awesome. Oh, and I say heat it I mean heat it to like 68-72°. I like working in a T-shirt because wearing bulky clothes around machines the can remove fingers, arms, etc. in the flash of a second is just unsettling to me. Thanks. Great videos.

I just ordered one should be here on Black Friday hopefully! I’m concerned about the fuel tank being on top of the heater. Anyway, you can check that temperature? And is there a plate separating them? It looks like? UPDATE: There definitely is a plate separating the fuel tank and heater. This thing is awesome so far. Dry warm heat. I’m working on a trailer in 10 degrees F weather and it can keep my half insulated (so far) 6x14 enclosed trailer above 70 F and condensation free. At level 3 it was maintaining 63 F . The lid has no gasket. Diesel leaks a bit around the lid with transport.
