in your opinion is this safer than a kerosene forced air heater from home depot? if there are zero fumes is seems way safer.

Finally someone with some sense understands that bigger isn't always better. In my 20' camper and outside temps near freezing my 'Buddy heater' on low (4KBTU) is like being in a sauna. I've been wanting to go to a diesel heater but nobody tests the small ones on KZbin. Except here., And in real-world conditions. Unbelievably efficient safe results means one of these will be in here before long. Thanks for the review and test!

Good job ! I think you went into as much detail as anyone could want. They run pretty efficiently. The bottom line is, if the tank gets low fill it back up an get back to whatever it was you were doing.

Fantastic test Jim. Very detailed. Love your videos. I am definitely going to purchase a similar diesel heater now for my 14x24 car garage. Up here in Manitoba, Canada, we often get down to -40 degrees Celsius throughout the winters, so keeping my garage warm is a LUXURY, and if I can do that fairly cost efficiently, that’s a bonus for me! Hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas, and a prosperous new year! Looking forward to new videos!

Using one gallon of diesel fuel was definitely a good idea for a controlled reference point. Great Video 👍

Last night it went down to -17c and my garage hung on to 4.1c. At 6 this morning I started the electric heater again to bring it up higher. My garage is well insulated, but im thinking of trying one of these heaters because the electric will probably cost a fortune. My priority for now is keeping all my paints and liquids from freezing. I can handle working in the cold. Thanks for the video!

Really great test. Thanks for sharing. I agree that setting on Low they seem to produce a less efficient burn, you can tell just by the smell alone. I personally always run on default level 3 or higher. One thing I'd recommend is running the air inlet to the outside so you're not cannibalizing your warm shop air and blowing it outside with the exhaust. Not sure how much this would help, but it seems like a good next set of tests if you're interested in taking it there. Once again, this was a very interesting video for us parking heater enthusiasts. All the best to you and your family this Christmas.

Jim you do a great job to explain what you are doing with this test of the diesel heater . After seeing you explain how cheap these heaters can operate I now want to buy one. You do not get tired of going into all details to explain the use of this small 2 kw heater. Thanks for showing us how to get the best amount of heat for cheap! I will subscribe to your channel; you can show other ways to save some $cash.

I have a Whodafugknows brand orange and fake carbon fiber 2k and it runs on 3/4 of a gallon for 24 hours on low. My trailer is well insulated with 2" of polyiso and it will keep it at 75f inside when it is 16f outside. Yours sure is quiet? I'm getting a quiet pump on Tuesday and I can't wait to try it out.

@@DIYJIM I put Japanese bearings in it, and a mushroom air filter on it, and just got graphite gaskets. I love it. I used it today on full speed to cook the moisture out. After about two hours, it was 95F and dropped the humidity to 40% over an hour later it is still 80 and humidity climbed back up to 60%. It is about 46F outside.

Depending on your controller, it sounds like it needs tuning. Had the same issue on low with my original 5kw CDH. On low, you need to reduce the htz to get a cleaner burn. I’ve been running mine in my garage every winter for the past few years with no smell, no smoke, & I’ve never had to clean it out. (so far) Now I’ve seen this video, I’m now tempted to get a 2kw heater, or maybe a couple of them 👍

Is it an 8kw or 2kw??? You said it was an 8kw unit on the original install video? And how did you quiet down the fuel pump ticking noise
@DIYJIM
@DIYJIM 21 күн бұрын
It a 2kw I guess I was wrong in my other video. I didn’t do anything to the fuel pump it’s just quieter when on low, maybe my mic was not picking up the noise. Thanks for watching

Do these versions come with the ac adapter or do you have to buy that separately? How do you power this?

I don't have mine hooked up to a battery I have mine on a dedicated power supply but I'm wondering if you we're running a higher voltage let's say 13 or 14 volts vs 11 or 12 volts that would change the consumption, that would be a great experiment.

I run a Vevor 2kw heater in an 8’x 12’ shower shack, off grid,in Yukon, with an average outside temp of around -15C, using a 12v deep cycle battery that recharges daily by generator using a 4amp charger. The heater will run without recharging for a full 24 hours on level 1 if I push it. The voltage will start out around 13.4v and has trouble running after it drops below 9.7v. Once it’s running, the power draw is very small. I can get 2-1/2 to 3 days on 10 litres of fuel, which is the size of tank used in this video. I think the literature states the pump is 0.16ml per stroke or something like that.

@@billmoore5177 That low of voltage is hard on the battery, best to keep it above 50% or 12.1v measured at rest.

Anyone use black diesel?
@mrmotofy
@mrmotofy 20 күн бұрын
You mean any other color that's dyed black with Petroleum dye available on Amazon haha Or you saying used motor oil, which can be used but is very dirty and needs good filtering along with a dilution with diesel. Many say 25% to Diesel
@josephcurreri9289
@josephcurreri9289 20 күн бұрын
@mrmotofy used motor oil, whether you let it settle then filter or you centrifuge and then filter and then settle or whatever the process you use. Just because it takes diesel doesn't mean it will work well with black diesel. Some people will use straight oil, some people will use 20% diesel and people will use 70% diesel if it's really cold
