This video was great, it went over all the details I had wanted to know! Upgrading because giving my PC away to my GF and I am going from a i9-9900K to i9 12900k, which is great, as I can clearly see in this video, the i9-13900K isnt worth the extra 300€ for sure!

Excellent review as always. My biggest problem with the 13th gen is that it consumes so much more power than than the 12th gen and 12th gen already consumes a lot of power. IMO anything above the 13th gen i5, particularly the i5 13400f(but the 13600k is also manageable) consumes too much power for me to consider at any price or performance.

Nice picked up a 12900KS for $240 last week. Goodbye Ryzen tired of all of AMD’s issues after using them for 20+ years. They used to be great value that the savings could be put into a better GPU but now the CPU’s almost the same price with motherboards actually costing more then Intel. Let the kool-aid drinking AMD users have their X3D chips, was nothing but a band-aid to begin with due to a poor design.

@South_0f_Heaven_ Exactly, as soon as they get an edge in the market, AMD did exactly what they said they wouldn't do, they became Intel.
@South_0f_Heaven_
@South_0f_Heaven_ 3 ай бұрын
@@greebuh what I get a kick out of is how AMD is touted as so efficient with half the TDP of Intel. If that was really the case they should be running no hotter then 50c but in reality if the Ryzens actually drew some real power they would just burn up like all the other AMD processors before them. People can say what they want about Intel running hot but they don’t know AMD’s long history of overheating products. On edit: Forgot to bring up the X3D chips being locked. AMD was always known for unlocked CPU’s and could make a fortune if they offered unlocked X3D CPU’s but that obviously can’t happen because AMD knows that they would incinerate themselves. Not a good sign when AMD themselves have no faith in unlocked X3D’s since they know it’s nothing but a band-aid fix like I mentioned to a fundamental design flaw in their architecture.

so the fact i got my 12900ks chip for 314.00 before black Friday saving 150.00 bucks compared to the 13900ks was a very smart choice because really for gaming its averaging only 10fps faster for 150.00 more in price. good to know i made the right decision.

Question, what happens if you turn off "E" cores on both alderlake and raptor lake then lock clock speeds {both being same frequency}, do they then perform exactly the same? Thanks your video is great!

Iirc they will perform very similarly, within a few percentage points. Pretty sure 13th gen only has minor changes to cache and more e cores and frequency.

Is Intel still doing Tick Tock releases? I'm curious what the 14th Gen IPC will do.. that should be a Tick right? The 13th was the Tock? It sounds silly but I think you get me.. I have a 10850K at 5.1, So skipping a few generations is fine but keen for the IPC Bump soon because I plan on RTX Gaming with a new gpu this year sometime.

I'd wait for 15th gen (Arrow Lake) because it'll be using 20A/7nm which is a massive jump, but not only that. It also will have increased IPC. I have no idea what clock will it can go. I'm still using 12700K/Z690. You are still using 10th gen, so you definitely should wait for 15th gen since 14th gen is more mobile focused rather than desktop. *EDITED*: I'm mistaken. The Arrow Lake do not uses 18A node. The Lunar Lake will featured this. However, unless Intel changed their roadmap. Otherwise, both Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake will featured 20A/7nm.

Thanks for the vid but you can't use a 3090 when testing CPU perf when the 4090 exist. You are easily GPU bottlenecked even at1080p and should therefore test with the best possible GPU to give the most accurate results.

You are right, of course. Unfortunately, close to everything is purchased out of my own pocket and I haven't been doing so well financially for the past year. So right now I don't have the budget for a better GPU. It's not that I don't know or don't want to. I simply can't right now. Thanks for understanding! :)

@@Nicolas11x12English Hey dude. I get it, it's a recession and tough times all around, the point wasn't to "rain on your parade". Rather pointing out a fact that you are heavily GPU-bound so the results can differ quite much more between the 12900k and 13900k when removing a quite significant GPU-bottleneck like the 3090 with a 4090. Best of luck to you in the future bro!

I believe so... I am currently torn between buying an X670E motherboard and 7800X3D CPU and buying a 13900KS (as I currently have a 12900K). I want to get one to upgrade my current PC with and then build another PC that I can sell with my spare parts! But I really don't know what to do... While the 12900K is great, it seems that the 7800X3D is better for games (which is my primary PC usage purpose) and uses less power. BUT, I could also just snag a 13900KS and a cheaper Z790 motherboard for around the same total price as the upgrade to the AMD parts... I really don't know what to do here....
