It's about smoothness and responsiveness of the power delivery. A lot of very 'powerful' cars have narrow power bands and feel like sluggish in low-mid range 2K-3K RPM, where most driving is. My tuned Audi A4 only had 310hp, and was a blast to drive - it felt fast in any driving scenario (casual/spirited/passing/racing) and much faster than more powerful BMWs that I've driven. My Cayman has around 340hp and gives an exhilarating experience.

I was surprised how much I missed my 981.1 cayman GTS with its mere “340 Hp” on the road. The sound and the illusion of speed made that car such a joy to drive. I agree that the gt3 has become so much of an occasion that you need the stars to align before you can even start to enjoy it on the road. The limits are so sky high even in corners going triple the recommended speed but only at 6k rpm you just feel handcuffed. I recently picked up a taycan turbo s, and while the limits are also sky high, your emotional attachment to instant response plus the sports sound is something journalists are missing taking the car to a drag strip.

For me driving enjoyment is about control, and the taycan gives me control in spades.

I really agree, it’s so much fun to drive on an interesting road with no traffic. It does have heft for sure and driving a Boxster S is fun too. But I do love the Taycan.

Haha I see I left Mr Smiley in a couple of shots he shouldn't have been in. Also my audio kept getting out of sync between my two cameras, but it's in sync on the side shots.
